Nice to live near a pier. I live far inland.
Lobster and conch are too pricy for me and they don’t have much omega 3 in them.
You get the most omega 3 from sardines, anchovies or salmon. Wild caught salmon are cheap at aldis. As are canned sardines. (They’re similarly priced however as those at Walmart.)
I buy both — but the salmon tend to just sit in the freezer. I’ll take out the canned sardines, dice them and sprinkle them on a salad more often. you want sardines in water.
Mostly I’ll just take about two grams of fish oil with high levels of omega 3’s. That’s the helpful stuff in seafood.
Well I am still figuring on that...
Early voting should be illegal.
Bump to that.
I disagree, but there should be no mail-in voting for sure, because there is absolutely no chain-of-custody for those votes. Early voting takes place at the voting precinct at the voting booth where chain-of-custody is maintained. There should also be proof of the person voting by presenting an ID with a picture.
My position on early voting is simple:
Voting is both a means of deciding a contest and a civic ritual. The ritual nature of the act is important to confer legitimacy on the winners and preventing or at least inhibiting claims of unfairness after the fact.
Part of the legitimizing function is that voting only happens AFTER “campaigns” where the jurors (voters) have heard from both sides, have heard what they have to say, and have reached a just conclusion.
I know that’s not a complete and accurate description of how voters actually behave.
Early voting is public acceptance of the legitimacy of votes cast by voters who have made up their minds without listening to the candidates (I am aware that this happens). But allowing or even endorsing it reminds me of voting by illiterate Africans, where the Luo line up at the polls to vote for the candidate whose symbol is a rooster and the Kikuyu go to vote for the candidate whose symbol is a crane.
Once voting in America has degenerated to the point that minds are made up before the candidates even speak, we may as well just do away with it altogether.
Well, early voting should be allowed, but they should be limited t0 3 consecutive days When voting starts, there should be a blackout of reporting anything concerning the election. If there is reporting before the polls have closed after all voting has been completed, a heavy fine should be placed on any & all outlets that violates that reporting edict.
Yes, all the polling is simply jury tampering and should not be allowed.
The reason I pick 3 consecutive days, is to reduce the amount of time that voters have to wait in line to vote.
Because that too can impact the voting. I have it made, because my voting place in the country is not a long wait, but not everyone lives in the country and faced with hours wait, there are people who will abandon casting their vote.
Waiting until the last day provides the cheaters an opportunity to impact voting by having ballots that can't be read in the tabulation, if machines are left in place.
I still think that tabulation should be done by hand, and the count confirmed by machine as a form of confirmation.
Supporters from both political parties overseeing the elections, must have the same numbers involved.
In Texas, property tax relief is on the ballot. Even the rats should support that but don’t count on it.
