Yep, you ate there and the food gave you diarrhea. You've made your point.
You still do, even if it is just bread and water.
Do you hear yourself?
To me, those interior walls must be returned to their former decor, or nothing has really changed. The walls and Nik Naks are the real center of influence and portrayal of culture.
And that would include hanging that old shotgun back on the wall near the fireplace.
The CEO had no clue Cracker Barrel had customers
I dont remember the last time I ate at waffle house. Or ihop
There are only two Cracker Barrels in Southern California. I ate at the one in Victorville in 2019 and found it to be rather mediocre, like a Denny’s.
If I’m in Victorville at mealtime, I usually eat at Richie’s Diner or Emma Jean’s Hollandburger, a family-owned eatery that caters to local workers and has been there since the 1950’s. If I’m heading northeast, I might stop at the Mad Greek in Baker, a Greek restaurant that offers lots of delicious goodies.
oroh, CFA has a nice chicken wrap for breakfast and a bottle of juice . A bit expensive but no crying butt.
There are crying butts, just not yours.
Undefeated!
“They already redesigned the interiors into a sterile, non-Christian environment.”
I don’t like the interior and agree it is “sterile”, but how is it “non-Christian”?
It was faux old-timey before, but I never saw any religious iconography of any kind. Now it’s Holiday Inn Express.
Again, it’s ugly and boring, but how is it more or less “Christian”?
Still not going back until they fix their food.
You don't do that by insulting long time customers who aren't in danger of dying anytime soon.
Exactly. There are a lot of people who do not comprehend the demographic shift that is happening in our world. The boomer group is in their receding days. Sure, we are probably more active than our predecessors. But I know that I am not spending as much money on eating out—even at Cracker Barrel. And the average ticket price for my wife and me is much lower than my kids who go out with my grandkids. And there is hardly anything on the menu that those kids would eat.
And, the parents today were generally not raised eating that kind of food—grandma was not cooking like that when they were kids. If my mother in law ever tried to feed my kids anything with white gravy it would go uneaten.
Times change. Tastes change. Disposable income fades.
The entire system is going to go through this change through the next ten years. “Established” businesses will fade away. Some will change and keep up. But the world will be a very different place in 2035.
This Cracker Barrel story will not end well. Look for stores to start closing after another quarter or two.

I understand that long time customers are not all dying. But I guarantee you that they are not showing up as frequently, nor are their average bills keeping up with inflation. It’s just the way demographic shifts happen.
But if a company doesn’t get ahead of this early…it will turn on them quickly.
I understand what they were trying to do. Many places have been doing this. My brother runs a commercial painting company that contracts with companies like CB to do the renovations. He has been booked for the past two years doing these types of things.
That said, marketing companies need to study what happened here. Someone missed some key things—and social media destroyed them.
I used to run a pretty sophisticated “Voice of the Customer” program for our company. We were able to adjust a big service delivery operation to target very measured, specific needs. When I would give lectures on this, there was a point in the middle of the process where your would “think” you knew the answers. But if you don’t confirm them, you will get burned. I saw it happen over and over.
Marketing agencies don’t always “do the work.” Companies don’t always want to spend the money to “do the work.” That’s why you get lousy marketing, horrible service, and management that speaks to their customers like they are idiots.
Not good enough.
Their entire management and neutral gray re-make need to go.

They listened to Trump.
Why did they even change it to begin with ???
I haven’t been following this whole situation. I ‘m going to take a guess that some idiot with a brain stuck in their A$$ for storage did it. I will also add that this bookbrain with a piece of paper that says they don’t have too listen to the voices in their heads...
