Medical waste has increased 59% in Indonesia since COVID. I suspect the increases are just as drastic in other areas since. Actions have consequences. Some aren’t immediately evident.

I wouldn't be too concerned. That bit of radioactivity gives the shrimp
a unique piquant je ne sais quoi, unobtainable with traditional seasoning.

I remember China was selling us radioactive sheetrock.

That's to kill the black mold.

Lots of food is irradiated as part of the processing. Seafood, shellfish, spices, vegetables. Hospitals have irradiators for fresh blood to zap it before transfusions.

Cesium 137 is commonly used, it lasts longer than Cobalt-60. One issue with it is it is produced as cesium chloride, which i soluble. What probably happened here is that a food irradiator developed a small leak and Cs-Cl got out into the processing line.

The world got dosed with Cs137 when Chernobyl melted, but it is spread very thinly.

They may have been in Brazil where medical equipment was removed and disassembled from an abandoned clinic.

People died.

Remember the Ciudad Juárez cobalt-60 contamination incident in 1983?

One evening last spring,, I ate some Shrimp which was purchased from Walmart.

Around a couple of hours after eating the Shrimp, I started feeling as if I was about to suffer a panic attack, so I took a Klonopin.

Several minutes later, I became violently ill. I couldn’t stop vomiting and eventually became uncontrollably sick at “both ends”. Sorry for the graphic image, but that’s how bad it was.

I ended up in an ambulance and was rushed to the hospital because my potassium had become dangerously low. I was diagnosed with stomach flu and a bladder infection and was admitted.

I had never experienced food poisoning, but I still wonder if, instead of stomach flu, I had food poisoning.

I will never eat Shrimp as long as I live. I’ve had many illnesses, including Double Pneumonia, and I have never been so violently ill.

“Never buy shrimp at Walmart or the Dollar Tree. And never eat sushi from AM\PM or 7-11.”

Common sense but apparently that is lacking in a lot of Americans these days .

The world got dosed with Cs137 when Chernobyl melted, but it is spread very thinly.

The Chernobyl disaster released an estimated 80,000 terabecquerels (TBq) of Cesium-137 into the environment. Since 1945, man-made activities have released an estimated one million terabecquerels (TBq) of Cesium-137 into the environment. So Chernobyl represents just 8% of the total quantity of man-released Cs-137.

Regards,

So are Lobsters, but they're the most delicious seafood on earth.

Second fiddle to freshly caught King Crab. Impossible to get in lower 48, but there it is.

The Fukushima disaster? Cesium contaminated water from pits is being dumped into the Pacific for some time. The problem with Cesium, it is soluble in water.

The Fukushima radiation is a very big, downplayed deal, still contaminating the oceans.

“The problem with Cesium, it is soluble in water.”

Cesium is not soluble in water. In fact, it is VERY reactive!

International Response:

While some countries, such as China, have banned Japanese seafood imports, the FDA and other international bodies have not detected significant contamination in seafood samples.

Bottom feeders all of them. They eat everything including the poop. Fukushima shrimp cocktail, please.

C-126 is the isotope used in govt “atomic” clocks. Crazy accurate timers used for LORAN navigation just prior to GPS.
