Last time I was in Vegas a year or two ago, the scene had gotten noticeably sketchier than it used to be. The strip was littered with Snoop Dogg wannabe types smoking weed on the sidewalk and conducting small-time dope deals. This phenomenon did not exist at all before LV legalized cannabis. The hotel-casinos don’t want that crap inside so the users and petty dealers congregate outside making it seem like you’re walking down the street in Oakland or south central L.A.

Young people are not into stupid life styles. Drinking. Drugging

Today they're more into PlayStations and smart phones.

“Vegas priced itself out of business. You use to get great hotel rates, affordable meals and shows.”

It was great in the ‘70s and early ‘80s.

We visited in the mid-’90s, and saw a definite change for the worse. It had gone from am adult spot to way too many kids.

Why go to a country run by Democrats that empower
a minority population to run the Local “Turf”.
I don’t like Black Americans, I don’t think anybody else does either, but who is empowered by Democrats to run our cities?
All for the vote.
Most non-black Democrats do not live in the ghetto.
I’ve lived in what you would call a “Barrio”.
I could walk the streets at night, Safely,
and I’m pretty white.
No way I could do that in Compton, CA.

No kidding. I went to Vegas last in 2003 and a number of other times going back 15 years prior to that. In those days one could get get bargains or a wide range of pricing going up but the bargains were easily had. Those days no longer exist.

Chinese and Asians are the biggest gamblers. Canada is not the reason for the drop.

Vegas priced itself out of business. You use to get great hotel rates, affordable meals and shows. It’s all shifted high end now. Nothings cheap, let alone mid-range. Maybe that model works, I don’t know. Not for me though. Not for what Vegas is.

Back in the last century, there were a lot of bargains to be had in Vegas. Coupons for eating places, shows, motel rooms and free chips were widely available, ridiculously inexpensive meals such as $3.00 prime rib could be had, and parking everywhere was free. But that was a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.

I have several acquaintances involved with casinos.

They say the main revenue of casinos is from Asia and the middle east. Asia is hurting and the ME is hurting from oil.

They also go elsewhere (UAE) due to “better quality” of prostitutes and easier flights.

I’m not sure I care they’re gone.

A lot of people around here (Western Washington) go to the Indian casinos which are nearby, well-managed, and still affordable. They also tend to have real good food. I know a couple who usually get their room FREE because they accumulate points in various ways (e.g., gambling).

It's the prices prices prices. I went there recently. Had a decent enough time on the company credit card. Absolutely no way I could ever afford to go on my own dime, especially with my wife. Only so many people are going to pay $18 for a burger. When Emeril Lagasse has a restaurant at your hotel, you know dinner anywhere is going to run you some bucks.

When I got there, the first thing I found was a Walgreens and then proceeded to hole myself up as much as possible during the few days I was there. When I did get out, it was kind of exciting and pretty. But cost would definitely prevent me from making it a private vacation type destination. No thanks. I'll take Myrtle Beach.

THIS! Used to be the rooms and entertainment was cheap, and they got their money out of you by gambling. Now they try to bleed you for everything.

And by everything, I mean everything. Freebies for the players are down, and rates are up. Now most of the casinos also charge a resort tax and some charge for parking.

The bean counters charge you for everything. Even the food costs are high.

Anecdote only: Canadians are increasingly choosing to boycott travel to the US.

They're certainly all over X taking credit for it.

Credit card debt is at record highs and people don’t have all that loose change jingling around in their pockets anymore.

Shame on Vegas for renaming their airport—replacing Sen. Pat McCarran (D-Nev.), a great patriot, with that corrupt slimeball Harry Reid.
