Unfortunately, massive solar arrays have at least two big problems. First, any given surface will be in darkness approximately two weeks out of every month. The lunar cycle from new moo to full moon and back to new moon is a thing. Second, micro meteorite impacts will over time degrade and eventually destroy the solar arrays.

Going to the Moon and other planents is ridiculous.
I could see packing huge shuttles full of libs and Rats and firing them into the Sun as the only worthwhile point of a space program.
