Was a guy on today that pointed out the fact that every president, including GW Bush, ran on “no endless wars and nation building” agenda.

Every single one, including Trump, ignored that promise after elected.

Which points to the fact, no matter who is voted in, they have no intention of keeping that promise.

So, they sanction countries receiving energy from Russia.

That is badically the Brics nations.
Which includes Thailand and Indonesia.

What do we rely on from Thailand and Indonesia? Rubber!

Bricses GDP is larger than NATOs GDP.

Your correct. It may just crash the markets. And they know it.

“Bessent sanctions”

Can someone state what these would be.

I’m having trouble finding the specifics.

At one time there seemed to be more Putin worshipers here. Some even wanted a Trump Putin partnership. LOL. Not sure what happened but most are gone now.

The classic was Woodrow Wilson running for reelection, “He kept us out of war” referring to WWI.... then he plunged in wholesale.

Yeah, Trump isn’t going to bomb Moscow. Not a chance. He isn’t stupid.

The Congress might authorize Trump to bar from any country that takes in Russian oil after August 15th at least one type of product that the US can make on its own or get from a country that has not within 60 days accepted Russian oil.

That would have a greater coercive force/US economic impact ratio.

Ultimatum - is considered in the east (and in other parts of the globe), a provocation, like a fuse that will ignite an object that possesses expansive capabilities <-- that are unknown, by makers, self-assured masters, and [collateral] observers. Did not somebody tell the President?

An ultimatum of setting tariffs is something our president has every right to make.

Only a weenie president would give up such a right.

That’s exactly what I think “Stuffs” is. It’s and escalation.

When you want a ‘peace treaty’ sometimes you have to force people to the table. Think Linebacker II.

To those concerned about the Abrams tanks and bradleys and ditches, please familiarize yourself with the terms ‘mobile warfare’ and ‘breakouts’. Those things become realities when you control the airspace. Pilots? No problem, peacekeepers can patrol Ukraine airspace and Ukraine pilots could fly to Moscow.

Perhaps Vlad the Invader would prefer to sit at the table with Ukraine occupying Russian territory? I absolutely don’t put this past Donald Trump. Keep in mind, war is expensive, the quicker it’s over the cheaper it will be, IMHO.

Anybody wants to know what side I am on, it’s the one where Ukrainians and Russians aren’t killing each other in a pointless war, while China eyes Siberia to become the next world power.

If Ukraine could stop glide bombs from taking out pillboxes, the Russians might lose the ability to advance. Russian advances are pretty pointless as the Russians already have all the pro-Moscow territory of Ukraine.

I was thinking of plate grates that would stop glide bombs but would allow bullets to generally pass through.

A second possibility is lots of dummy pillboxes.

A third possibility is remote control mortars in front of a plate grate that could launch a Javelin-style projectile at an approaching tank.

A fourth possibility is to mount remote controlled semi-automatic guns on the underside of large tree branches. Russian surveillance drones would have a hard time spotting these for Russian artillery take out.

A fifth possibility is to place remote controlled semi-automatic guns in molded objects that look like boulders or fallen trees.

Another innovation might be stealth reconnaissance gliders. These would make no frontline detectable noise and would be harder to shoot down than noisy drones. They might be launched into the air using a propeller, motor and wheels that would all be dropped when the glider reaches a certain altitude and position. Alternately, they might be rocket propelled like the ME-163. Their flight path might be pre-programmed.

And one more time.

China and India HAVE NO CHOICE. There is no other source of oil that is unencumbered. Saudi Arabia already has customers. Ditto UAE.

Global consumption last year actually listed at 1 million barrels/day above production (an artifact of tankers at sea). But the point is There Is No Slack.

How could there be? If someone can pump more and make money, they would. Now, the most feared thought in the entire world has always been the Saudis “deciding to keep it underground for their grandchildren”. That would be the pat to $150/barrel.

So it doesn’t happen. China would LOVE to produce more than 5 million bpd domestically. India would LOVE to produce more than 900K bpd domestically. But they can’t. Geology says no.

They have no choice. They buy oil from Russia or the trucks don’t bring food to grocery stores. They are not going to starve their populace because of a Trump sanction.

Bessent sanctions:

1. Place Rosneft and Gazprom Neft on Treasury’s SDN list

2. Place insurers and shadow fleet shipping companies on Treasury’s SDN list

3. Place VTB, Gazpromnbank on Treasury’s SDN list.
