EV Update: Will The Market Survive The Expiration Of The Federal Tax Credit?

Not only will it survive, it will thrive. And, it will be the survival of the fittest. And, the fittest is Tesla. Not only are they a decade ahead in technology of all other EV manufacturers, Tesla is going to be right on time with the release of their new super aluminum ion battery. Certain models of Teslas will be equipped with this new battery in the 2026 models. The new battery is lighter, has higher energy density, lower cost, longer life cycles, and faster charging times and improved safety compared to lithium-ion batteries.

What people forget, is that Tesla is a BIG producer of batteries in the solar energy market. Tesla and solar are joined at the hip. Their new battery technology will definitely transfer right over into the solar market. This means cheaper and more productive solar for homeowners.

If you think Tesla is going to take a dump over this, you're behind the curve. I'm not a gazillionaire, but I've made enough money on Tesla stock in five years to buy a Tesla.

My prediction is their prices will drop.

I agree. But, when they do, Detroit automakers will be out of the race completely.

It wasn’t surviving with the subsidies...so let’s take a wild guess.

You mean, it wasn't surviving in Detroit. I've made enough money on Tesla stock to buy a Tesla.

Hopefully they retool and bring back sixes and eights that don’t need turbo thrust.

It will never happen, because that no longer exists. They are looking to build lighter and more efficient gasoline cars. Big heavy engines don't make that happen. And, emissions aside, people are looking for economy and performance.

Think of the times they predict power shortages -- we take the gas pickup. Think of times gas was $5/gallon and there were shortages (IMHO gas is still a bit too high) -- take the EV. We don't have all of our transportation eggs in one basket for the Dims to mess up. And that's long trip driving.

No, what you are describing is taking prepping to the max. If you have a solar system that is big enough to take you off-grid, you would be shooting yourself in the foot to not go out and at least buy a 34k Tesla model 3. You would be driving a low-maintenance vehicle for free. And, ignore all that crap about the batteries not lasting. My brother's Tesla is about to roll 200k miles on the same battery.
