Apparently, some judges, Congressthings, and Leo’s can’t read… or don’t have a basic functional understanding of the English language.

Or worse, they don’t care.

Someone told me that this also makes it illegal to possess said firearms. Is this true?

“I really think this will make Colorado safer,” Polis said before signing the bill in his office at the Colorado Capitol.

*****

Ok....then disarm the capitol police and those of your personal escort.

***“commonly used arms” for defense of self and others.”***

Magazine fed Semi auto rifles have been around since 1903, and handguns even longer.
What has happened to Colorado since my family moved there around 1918!
Kansas and Wyoming might have to open gun shops along the border with Colorado to take up the “slack.” Our local farm and ranch store had new 30 rd magazines for rifles at their store for $10.

Colorado also charges 12% tax on food. Not fast food but grocery store food. Didn’t our founding fathers fight a revolution because of tax on tea?

Colorado has become a sad place.

The law will take effect in August of 2026. It bans the manufacture, sale, and purchase of semiautomatic firearms that can accept detachable magazines. This includes most semiautomatic rifles in common use, like AR-15s, also Glocks and virtually any other semiautomatic handgun in any caliber. Magazine-fed shotguns would likewise be banned.

Absolutely false. Where do these web sites get their information, from bubble-gum cards? Sheesh!

The only handgun covered by the law are gas-operated semi-auto handguns. Since the vast majority of semi-auto handguns are recoil operated, they are exempt.

From: SB 25-003: SEMIAUTOMATIC FIREARMS & RAPID-FIRE DEVICES (PDF)

The bill prohibits the manufacture, distribution, transfer, sale, or purchase of semiautomatic rifles or shotguns with detachable magazines and gas-operated semiautomatic handguns. Rifles that use .22 caliber, or lower, rim-fire ammunition are not prohibited, unless the rifle has separate upper and lower receivers.

Lord do I hate this SOB and our California legislature. This will be struck down. This makes my Ruger 10/22 an ‘assault weapon’. All of this came from Bloomberg in NYC.

Did you actually read the text of the law before posting this?

Does the 10/22 have a separate upper and lower receiver?

“[t]his is not a right granted by the Constitution.

The Constitution doesn't "grant" Rights.

"that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights" - The Declaration.

It’s why I’m no longer a Constitutionalist, but a Declarationist.

The Constitution clearly states the purpose of the Bill of Rights. They provide either “hands off” or “mandatory” directives to the Federal government. The Constitution does not contain a single word that regulates citizens. It is all about defining the functionality and boundaries of the government.

If anyone is curious as to when injunctions are justified, this is it. Shop for a pro-second amendment judge and initiate a lawsuit.

Does this apply to pump shotguns with tubular magazines? It just says “magazine fed shotguns” with no qualifiers. Seems intentionally vague.

I don't think so, The law says semi-automatic shotguns and rifles with detachable magazines.

We have the same problem in Texas. A lot of folks fled blue state cancers and moved here but instead of enjoying the freedom from inane laws and rules now are turning Texas purple.

We also can kill the following designated pests the year around without a hunting license or permit.

Beaver, cottontail rabbit, coyote, fox squirrel, gray squirrel, ground squirrel, muskrat, opossum, raccoon, red squirrel, skunk, weasel, and woodchuck.

With the exception of coyotes, a .22 cal PCP air rifle is perfect. In the past 15 months, I've shot 65 squirrels, several skunks and possums in my back yard. Apparently word hasn't gotten out because they keep on coming.
