That may be true, but likely meaningless. What counts is reasoning and evidence. One hopes the consensus will follow.
It should be noted that sometimes the consensus is shaped by historical forces. Evolution, Marxism, global warming, climate change, may each lack merit, but each was rewarded and acquired some level of consensus.
Today, academics who publicly doubt the existence of Muhammad can lose funding or their lives.
Quick story. One hundred German scientists signed a letter saying that Einstein was wrong. Einstein replied: “Why so many? All you needed was one who was right.”
Islam teaches that men can rape little girls and stone their wives to death...same thinking as making slaves from humans in africa...give men the “religious” right to do so and they will do it...there was no need for a single mohammed.
Many reputable scholars say that Mecca and Medina did not exist in the supposed time of Muhammad!
You are absolutely right that Christians have not been and aren’t today perfect. But, compared to Communists, Nazis and Muslims, however, we have been exemplary.
