“Mexican coke is the best.”

Yep, still made with cane sugar instead of corn syrup.

New Coke sucked. I remember it was not appealing at all...tasted more like Pepsi.

40 years ago, wow. My concept of time has been completely shattered in the last 15 years. I think of time like my 10 year old brain in 1977. Anything 40 years ago was 1937...which seemed like ancient history to me as a kid.

Agree. But I don’t think RC tastes like Pepsi.

New Coke was supposed to taste more like Pepsi, because Coke thought people preferred Pepsi.

Coke didn't realize that Pepsi drinkers already had Pepsi, and Coke drinkers preferred Coke.

Tab was popular with women, because it was a diet soda, which was rare at the time. Men avoided Tab because it came in a pink can and was favored by women.

Then Coke invented Diet Coke, and men drank it, because it wasn't feminine like Tab. Diet Coke became popular, and eventually killed Tab.

Back then, in the 1980s, I was into Dr. Pepper.

I've long since given up all sodas. Too unhealthful.

Its original recipe without the cocaine.

You can get coke with sugar other than mexican bottles. Around hannukah places get some limited coke cans with sugar for that time of year.

If the anti new Cokers weren’t part of the strategy and on the payroll, I would be surprised. What a great way to reinvigorate loyalty.

And yet, even given that the new Coke debacle is still studied in marketing & branding, that pin-headed broad at Anheuser-Busch thought a faggot-tranny was just what was needed for Bud Lite to really own that market. SMH…

I’m too young to have tasted New Coke and I’ve always wondered over the years, but never thought to ask my parents, or older adults what New Coke tasted like. And now I know.

It seems every company which sells what we drink and eat has a deep obsession in {improving as they call it} long time established successful products. The soft drink companies are the very worst for this. Coca Cola's new frenzy of label of the month is also highly annoying. So is their packaging where you almost have to read labels word for work so you don't get Cherry Yuppie Kiwi Diet decaffeinated Coke which they placed in packaging designs nearly identical to regular Coke. Several times I have almost bought the wrong one.

The snacks companies are getting as bad. Do you like Chips Ahoy chocolate chip cookies? Well say goodbye to them because they are changing the recipe on them now. Some Group Of Corporate Nerds in their companies HQ have decided they like new and improved flavored ones better and they don't care what you like.

I'm 68 so I remember what Coca Cola, Pepsi, Mt Dew {which they have totally ruined}, RC, Dr Pepper, and all the rest actually tasted like with Cane Sugar.

It's basically the same mindset that enjoys having Microsoft's new OS which are almost each time a huge downgrade.

I don’t think they improve these products, they make them cheaper.

Agreed. Quality & taste is the least they care about.

Tab wasn’t bad

It was associated with girls, which is why they hired Willie Mays as a spokesman. Also, Diet Coke went all aspartame first. Tab stuck with a saccharin mix. Soda machines that only carried one diet cola chose Diet Coke.

I used to stock our 2 machines in high school working at a grocery store. Mid 70s. I dont even remember Diet Coke.

Besides, I was a Dr. Pepper fan.
