Readers Digest version:
socialistic dictatorship with fake elections = absolute power = absolute corruption = absolute kleptocracy = killing all the golden geese that laid golden eggs = nothing remains for the peasants ...
And it was over 2 decades ago. Plenty of shit happened to, oh say US, Brazil, Hong Kong, most of Europe since then. Venezuela is a lesson that hasn’t been learned.
“at one point, even provided free heating oil for impoverished Americans.”
Well, that was to buy Kennedy votes in Congress.
The worst problem with socialists/communists is that they refuse to get out.
Once in power, they use all kind of methods, including oppression, killings, and election fraud, to stay in the power!
See Venezuela above:
Chavez was kind of popular guy and got into power by winning election, fair and square.
That was in 1999.
The Venezuelans very quickly realized where his policies are heading and tried to get him out. They are still trying, but even now, with country totally impoverished, Chavistas are still in power!
Easy: socialism and a rapacious greedy corrupt ruling class.
Mami will teach us all about socialism quickly if elected.
You can vote socialists/communists into power, but you have to shoot them out.
It was strange how one if the first things GWB did was send $$$ and advisers to Venezuela.
Never did figure that one out.
**Venezuela is a lesson that hasn’t been learned.**
Same with Cuba.
Chile elected a young socialist. Can you blame the voters? Socialism is a siren call.
Same thing with Argentina when Peronistas took over until the new president turned it around.
Venezuela didn’t fall.
It was pushed.
L
Communism.
Yes, unfortunately!
It is not well publicized, but even in Russia after the communist “revolution”, they hold an election.
Lenin, in his revolutionary fervor, believed that everybody will vote for him, so he allowed more-less free election.
To his surprise, Bolsheviks lost, badly.
So he dissolved the parliament and never hold any free elections afterwards!
They’ll meet again IN HELL
And, they had to buy from outside sources a certain percentage of light crude to mix with their Orinoco Heavy and make it able to flow in a pipe. Called diluent, iirc.
They never paid their bills when they took delivery of the light stuff.
i knew it was necessary to buy naphtha to make their tar flow in pipes, but did NOT know they failed to pay for the last purchase ... i’m guessing the only way they can get naptha now is to barter for it with the chinese ...
