No, I don’t mean guys picking up litter in the streets. I mean the guys riding garbage trucks. That is tough work and they are paid well enough for the garbage to always be picked up.
As far as I can tell, you only have the idea that Americans won’t do the work because you and your family have been leeches on the country, hiring illegals.
Take the emotion out of it, think this through.
Let's say all illegal aliens working in the food 'picking/processing' industry are removed soon.
How do you get the food from the ground to the supermarket?
Do you think the supermarket will still have food to sell you if the food stays in the ground?
Do you think there would be no food shortage if the food stays in the ground?
A food shortage would clearly be an existential crisis.
Your going to tell those garbage workers to quite their job and go work in the field?
No. What I’m saying is pay people enough and they will come do the work. Jeesh!
You don't want to go there unless you know the person you're trying to insult you piece of crap.
Just out of high school, I was a framer. That job was ultimately replaced by, who I can only suspect because I have not definitive proof, was an illegal alien.
Years later, I was a programmer, making a nice living. Nearly 20 years in and I was replaced by...again, I can only suspect because I have no definitive proof, an H1b visa guy from either Mexico or China....I'm not certain. A team member of mine was replace at the say time, so I can't say for sure if the Mexican H1b visa guy or the Chinese H1b visa guy took my job. A job that I always had a positive performance review for.
The whole "best I can tell about you" and "your family are leeches" bullshit about somebody based on nothing more than a wild guess is very low IQ stuff.
Illegal aliens and H1b visa has affected me personally and directly regarding employment, in a very negative way. That, however, doesn't mean I can't reason this issue through.
Your not going to replace the barely educated foreigner from a poor country with an American citizen one for one...or even close to that. Not going to happen in this age.
Okay, so you’re the opposite end of the spectrum. You have no experience in farming and rural life in general. You’ve bought the propaganda.
Loads of high school and college kids would love to work on farms—and many more did before illegals undercut them. Again, as I responded to you before, there are temporary worker programs for extreme “picker” situations already, though with creativity that environment could be addressed as well.
There is zero excuse for many American farmer workers being legally paid below the minimum wage. That is the sort of legislation Rollins and the labor secretary should be addressing, not the amnesty they’re pushing for.
The person who wants to go to college?
The person who wants to be a plumber?
The person who wants to go into the military?
Are there high schools counselors out there advocating for kids to go into the fields to work for a living?
Perhaps, there's counselors in college who are telling kids that haven't made up their mind yet on a degree, that they should consider field work? Those people?
Perhaps it's that welder who has a son and daughter. He's telling them, hey...once field workers get paid enough (whatever that means), that's a career you should explore. Those people?
This...isn't...about...raising...the...field...workers...wage.
It's about culture. It's about the American dream. It's about wanting more for your children, a better life for them.
Working in a field picking food isn't that.
You are just clueless about this. I don’t know why. Do you understand labor markets? Supply and demand? Where do you think new hires in any sector come from?
