Bear meat in Alaska tastes like dead salmon if they live near the coast or a waterway! It’s what they eat. The meat is mostly given to the locals.

I HATE hunters.

This beautiful animal didin’t invade their homes and threaten their children. Perfectly innocent bear had a right to live his life in the wild.

Would be difficult to do since you have to cut it up and pack it out, also leaving the gut pile. Leaving the head intact allows you to measure the bear, the same as antlers are measured for elk.

Good point, that is a lot of heavy meat that probably isn't too tasty. I've had some good bear meat but most of it wouldn't sell at the grocery store unless there was nothing else left but impossible fake meat.

Hunting for food animals is fine, knew some people in Idaho wh did.
But this magnificent animal killed for “sport” is a very different story.

I would definitely prefer the pack string. My average sized AZ black bear’s hide was heavy.

I dislike tripping over old bear skeletons when I hunt deer and elk.
