When I was very young, I misunderstood the lyrics to Winter Wonderland. I was unfamiliar with the word parson.
Thinking parson brown was a shade of color, I was left wondering why would anyone build a brown snowman.

From The Little Rascals’ “Groovin’”
“Life would be ecstasy, you and me, endlessly.....”
What I hear:
“Life would be ecstasy, you and me, and Leslie.....”

“So Caught Up in You” by .38 Special. I could have sworn for years that it was a tribute to Francis Bauvier. “Aunt Bee it’s true! You’re the one!”

Stones - “Dude looks like a lady”.
I always thought they were singing “Do the lucky lady”.
Something about groupies I suppose. 🤔

For five decades, I thought that in “She’s a Woman,” the Beatles were singing, “she don’t hit RBI’s (in baseball, “runs batted in”)—perhaps meaning that she only scores with her lover and no one else. However, when I saw the lyrics, I learned that they were singing, “she don’t give boys the eye.”

When my eldest daughter was a toddler, she misplaced a toy. She explained that she must have lost it in a fortnight.
We frequently read "Peter Rabbit" to her, and one line was that "It was the second jacket he lost in a fortnight".

In her 1953 hit
Hound Dog, I thought for decades that Willie Mae Thornton was singing, "and daddy, I know, you ain't no aristocrat." However in her
rockabilly version, also from 1953, Betsy Gay enunciates more clearly, singing "and daddy, I know, you ain't no real cool cat"--which means, essentially, the same thing.

When listening to "Satisfaction" by the Rolling Stones, I thought I heard them singing, "I'm trying to meet some girl"--and it still sounds like that's what they are singing. However, according to every lyrics site I have seen, they are actually singing, "I'm trying to make some girl." Perhaps they are using a
girl machine-to make a girl.

Elvis Presley Suspicious Minds.
Correct: We’re caught in a trap, I can’t walk out.
I thought: They call it a drought, I can’t walk out.
At least mine rhymes!

I always misheard, Neil Diamond’s “Forever in Blue Jeans” as “Reverend Blue Jeans”, about a loose living, modern style, not tied to money preacher man”
As long as there’s just you and me
I’d much rather be
Reverend Blue Jeans
I always misheard that way too!
Also, Jimi... “Excuse me, while I kiss this guy” - instead of the sky.
