That is because of the tax revenue generated by having that stadium in the city as opposed to some suburb.

For example, I went to a Red Sox game last month at Fenway.
I paid a toll on I90 going in. I paid $25 to park my truck.
We ate prior to the game at a bar/restaurant outside of Fenway. I bought a fitted Red Sox hat at the team store on Yawkee Way. Not at the knock off vendors selling them on the street. The game ended at 7pm. We went to another bar/restaurant for a light dinner after. Then drove home.

My point is that I am sure Boston has measured the increase of revenue based on people coming into the city to attend sporting events, concerts, plays, etc. Just like I suspect the town of Foxborough, MA has calculated how much revenue is brought into town every time the Patriots play a home game. Then throw in a Kenny Chesney or Taylor Swift concert or two.

The question is how long is the ROI for the municipality to get back the BILLION dollars in tax revenues.

He’s right on subsidies, but his “oh, no, don’t stop my subsidies unless you stop them all” is an obviously unviable approach. And EVs are the absolute best subsidies of all to stop.

And not getting a bill passed will lead to massive tax hikes on the little (but legally American) people.

Yes, all the subsidies should go.
Then, maybe, let people to re-apply.
I would say, the only subsidies whose make sense are keeping some strategic industries in our country.
Basically subsidize the “rare earth” or uranium mining and processing. And similar endeavors.
So no China could use that as economic weapon.

Anyone in their right mind would take advantage of what they can, even while not being aligned that such opportunities should be available.

I don’t see a problem.

And Trump may have been a handsome, rich bachelor in the place and time American Gomorrah, but he wasn’t stupid:

Agreed. For example, I want a flat tax or fair tax with no deductions or credits. Until I win that argument, I’ll keep using all the credits and debits available.

I’d like to see Musk make a gasoline car. I expect he’d clean Detroit’s clock.

Except it’s not going to happen in one fell swoop, and the EV mandates are by far the best place to start.

“Agree with Tesla but he’s made a lot of money from subsidies.”

Yep. He’s saying “We got ours, so now it’s time to cut everybody else off.” Rather selfish viewpoint.

Yes -scrape the entire tax code and adopt one single universal 10% flat tax with no deductions, no exemptions, no exclusions and no tax credits. Get politics out of economic and financial decisions. It would be the totally broadest exact tax ever and the economy under it would boom.

... The subsidies were in the BBB for oil and gas ...

I haven't heard anything about those. Can you enlighten us about them?

No I cannot. I haven’t read the bill. I have heard it from others. I believe I heard it from Mike Benz in a few posts on X and has inroads to people who do know.

President Trump referred to the $7500 tax credit - credit, not deduction - for (green energy nonsense) EVs. There is no such animal for gas or diesel vehicles.

“”How about BOMB? Big Old Monstrous Bill. 😏””

OR name each bill after the person whose idea it was and fed it to the House and Senate? Pass or fall with their name!!!

A bit like the snooty homeowners in Westlake Village, CA, where we lived for a while in the ‘90s. Once the upper crust had completed its build-up, THEN: “Stop everything! No more development!”

(I don’t know how it is now.)

“Government should not be in the business of picking winners and losers.”

Basically, Congress doesn’t seem to care as long as it can spend money to people who kick it back to their political campaigns. Then, any unspent money they keep. The public is the big loser here, because it’s a kickback system and an incentive system, that has nothing to do with efficacy and national improvement. Until you force Congress to pass balanced budgets, we the people will continue to watch the Republic evaporate.

There is only ONE party in Washington DC and they want your money and not your opinion.
