I’m an attorney and rely in many cases on the USPS to deliver certified mail/return receipt requested legal documents. Without exaggeration, no more than 2 in 5 ever get delivered, much less with the required signature of the addressee. It’s the reason the Texas Supreme Court now allows “delivery by qualified delivery service”[FedEX, UPS, etc] in addition to USPS. Unfortunately, not all the service rules include QDS.
Your daughter is waiting for a Birthday card for 14 days? My husband & I are still waiting for the Anniversary card our daughter sent us since this past November! Going on 7 months now....the card only had to travel about 40 miles from her house to ours. Honestly, we don’t expect the card to ever arrive at this point.
I am so disgusted with our local USPS. Last November, I mailed 4 bills. Took them to the local postal annex and hand delivered them to a worker. Come to find out those 4 bills never made it to their locations. It cost me, IF I remember correctly, $120 in stop check fees along with another $30 for a late payment. I was able to stop late payments on 3 out of 4 of the bills.
Yep, I am disgusted with our USPS and the so called “service” they provide. Our family is to the point of not mailing occasion cards [with cash in them]. We now just hold the cards until we see whoever the card is going to. Yes, the card may be late, due to differing work schedules, etc, but at least we know the person WILL get their card & cash!
As for our mail delivery....it leaves a lot to be desired these days. I have signed up to get e-mails on what mail is coming. Also signed up to let me know the mail has been delivered. Well, some days I get notification mail has been delivered, but it has not. Yes, it usually arrives the following day. USUALLY! It’s not unusual anymore to see a mail truck around here delivering mail on Sundays! I am guessing they are delivering the mail they didn’t get to during the week? Yep, they need to do something to fix USPS....and I hope they do it soon!
Newman!
No doubt. Gotta make that quota somehow.
It's their strength.
Get a free checking account at a different bank just for bill paying.
Mine use Zelle so I can quickly transfer back and forth for free.
I'll say it for the writer... the USPS workforce cannot be distinguished from the TSA (Thousands Standing Around). Neither has a sense of mission and treats the public they are servicing like dirt.
I've had similar experiences with packages passing thru a bulk service center about 20 miles north of me on a common highway here in Pennsylvania. Instead of it going out for local delivery, it ended up going to Newark, NJ. Then down to some other center in South Jersey (forget where) before going back up to the Pennsylvania bulk center where it had been 5 days prior.
This is a continuing pattern that suggests that the long-haul mail trucks are not being fully off-loaded and sorted. Instead they go on a merry circuit wherever the next stop is for that mail trailer.
Not a bad idea.
My post office hasn’t had stamps or money orders for over 6 months.
Since most mail is now by email, regular mail delivery should be reduced to three days a week; Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
“Buildings that used to be filled with people handling each piece a couple of times have been replaced by scanners and sorters that move millions of piece of mail every day.”
And it was more dependable then than it is now. Automation isn’t always helpful.
When I lived in Alaska in the ‘80s our carrier was Asian and couldn’t speak English. Pretty sure he couldn’t read it, either.
A lady I met at a quilting retreat last month said she had to show her 18-year-old grandson how to address an envelope, including where to place the stamp, return address, and how to format the address.
The one near me uses an endless supply of immigrants from Africa who don't speak English.
As I mentioned, that civil service exam from the 80’s was grueling, even for my young, sharp mind. I can imagine that today’s diversity hires would be completely befuddled by it, starting with “name.”
I knew a few postal workers several decades ago, and they had keen common sense. That was another world.
Go E billing.
Tell me about it.
I bought some sheets from My Pillow. Got picked up on May 6. Got it today.
The tracking history is insane. They had it in Nashville for one day. I live 22 miles south.
It then got shipped to Little Rock and then back. Then it went to Murfreesboro 30 miles southeast of Nashville. Then they sent it west 25 miles to me.
