My Sister-in-law’s husband, now deceased, fought his way across North Korea several times in 1950-1952. When relieved they got on the ship and he absolutely REFUSED to get off at any of the ports of call till the ship landed in the USA. They had quite a few stops from Korea to Asia-Europe and the USA. He stayed on board.

I went to St. Petersburg Russia on a cruise in early July 2017. Beautiful palaces, art. Went to a concert in Catherine’s palace that finished at 11pm and it was still light outside.

Despite the warnings, most of Russia is probably safer for American tourists than is most of New York City.

Not for those who get criminally charged as bargaining chips for Russia to get Russians out of Western jails. Travelling to Russia is a really stupid idea unless it's someone like Tucker Carlson giving Putin positive PR and an opportunity to spread revanchist Soviet historiography about Ukraine and Belarus.
