Another victim of swatting was Jameson Lopp, a bitcoin developer, during the Bitcoin civil war in 2016-17. Fortunately he was not at home when the call came in, and upon his arrival in his neghborhood asked an officer what was going on and learned he was supposedly holding hostages in his house!

Attempted murder (or worse) charges should be basic in all these cases. So long as we are soft on crimes like this it will continue to get worse.

SWATTING is attempted murder. The perp should be charged accordingly.

At some point, these police agencies have to take responsibility for having a system that allows this sort of thing. They are duped so often that they have become a threat to decent people in this country. By now, they should be more reluctant to just go charging in with their quasi-military meatheads every time some outlandish claim is made over an untraceable telephone.

The question to ask is - why do cops automatically respond to an anonymous, untraceable phone call by LARPing Seal Team Six going into Fallujah?

Swatting can happen because since at least 9/11, Bush/Cheney. the patriot act, and a heavily ideological and politically marxist Obama DOJ, the FBI and our deep-state have taken complete control of America’s once independent local police forces

The swatter should be required to show up in person to make the call, and stay in the police station until the team returns. If it was a false raid, the swatter should be charged with attempted murder and immediately jailed.

You’re so helpful - maybe you KNOW who she was talking about - herself or Patel..The thread is “I” with her name as the writer...whose family was squatted hers or Patel’s? Whose daughter got pizzas delivered?

It really doesn’t matter but if one is going to take the time to read something - ANYTHING - it would be nice if it made sense!! Did she go from Patel’s quote back to herself - “The attacks on me and my family” or are we still on Patel?

even better, they should start with a telephone call to the swatee [and to the swatter when the swat is called in] ... and yes, by now, a national alert SHOULD have been sent out by the FBI to all local departments about swatting and all departments SHOULD be aware of it and SHOULD be treading cautiously, with no hung-ho SWAT call-outs as the first response ..

They err on the side of caution.

Their procedures could probably be improved, but they at least have to show up.

It makes perfect sense. It’s written by Sharyl Attkisson, when she says “I” she means herself, when she quotes someone she uses quotation marks. No one had a problem with this other than you, which means you need to slow down when reading.
