Any time you make fundamental changes to a system, those most dependent on the status quo will be most harmed by the change.
My 401K has taken a pretty good hit this week.
The stock market does not like change.
I am not complaining. I expect good things from these changes in the long run.
Smaller government is good. But the country is going to feel pain for a while. You don't have revolution with out pain.
I still say that we should set our tariff rates for each country based on the tariff rates of those countries set against the US ...
Oh please, unless people are planning on cashing out their 401k they will be fine.
The markets don’t like tariffs but they will when profits are far bigger in the future.
We are, that’s reciprocal tariffs that go into effect 4/2/25
Everyone's situation is different. Some people are withdrawing from their 401K monthly to pay bills.
If you are at a point in your retirement where you are dependent on your 401K income for your continuing life style a significant drop in stock value can hurt you.
Very few people today are retiring with a pension. Very few people get enough from SS to meet monthly expenses.
I live on social security and a distribution from my 401k. I learned a long time ago to only male one distribution a year and budget. I just remember Trumps last administration, drops in the stocks are lagging, don’t pay attention to the daily fluctuations because there are people who manipulate. Things are going to change vastly over the next 4 years.
As soon as the market believes tariffs will go into effect, it will start to affect prices. If you are a builder, and you think there will be tariffs on lumber, you buy lumber immediately to avoid tariffs, and so does every other smart builder, driving demand up, and driving prices up.

Canadians and Leftists have not received that memo.
Methinks thou dost protest too much. maybe your constituents are suffering more from whatever policies and legislation you and Yurtle have saddled them with over the decades.
Trump’s ultimate goal is for tariffs to replace the income tax. You’re for that aren’t you, Mr. Libertarian? Or are you a LINO?
We have never TRIED using tariffs in modern society - although I notice a lot of OTHER COUNTRIES have no problem imposing them on us.
How about we let Trump try them for a year or two. If they hurt us long term, we can quit. But I know the folks at National Review HATE tariffs, which makes me think they could work out well for us.
Maybe his dad needs to have a talk with him.
Yep.
It is great that you can do that.
Not everyone can.
Things are going to change vastly over the next 4 years.
Rapid change upsets markets. People are going be hurt.
It is unaviodible.
Well Canadians only know what Justine tells them and leftists don’t understand math 😂
Jacksss giving the Leftists talk8ng points. Rand needs to shut it.
Good point.
If by being hurt you mean getting richer then all I can do is say sorry they are so dumb
RP belongs to the ideologically rigid camp shared by both libertarians and Wall Street globalists that tariffs are basically the devil — that they’re always unjustified under all circumstances. Doesn’t matter if other nations impose huge tariffs on us — we should just roll over and take it. That to do otherwise would be “socialist” or something. It’s essentially a religion for them. Thankfully that era is coming to an end. And after Trump’s tariffs bring huge prosperity and the predictions of doom and gloom never come to pass, this ideology can be buried for good.
Lots of people are going to get poorer before they get richer.
Revolutions always have casualties.
Make no mistake Trump is leading a revolution.
