“I can only state that the toilets at my work place are just toilets, but their water pressure is amazing and nothing stays if you flush right away.”
Sounds like maybe “Glacier Bay” brand. I have installed a lot of toilets. And believe it or not the best I have ever installed yet are the cheapest homedepot $50 toilets made by Glacier Bay. Somehow how by simple design they flush like a JET with only 1 to 1.5 gallons. They are dual flush with a #1 button and a #2 button on the tank lid. #1 uses 1 gallon, #2 uses 1.5 gallons. I never saw anything like it until I put one of these in. Most high pressure toilets have a closed pressure accumulator tank that creates that jet pressure. But these only need the simple traditional float gravity tank system and flush just as well.
I was amazed the first time I used one of these Glacier Bay toilets too... :)
That’s true. The standard toilet flush typically uses about 1.3 to 1.6 gallons of water, but the capacity of the tank plays a crucial role in determining the flushing power. A larger tank, say 5 gallons, provides a more robust flush compared to a smaller 2.5-gallon tank, but both use the same amount of water per flush.
I’m surprised that they toilets that have been hydrophobically coated aren’t a thing, at least widespread.
Save water…shower with a friend
Does rainy England need to limit people’s water consumption?
California, I understand b/c of ongoing, persistent droughts (as mass apartment and condos are being built at the edge of my city, which mandates water restrictions - guess they don’t need water).
So frustrating when I’m told I can’t water my garden on most days b/c of a lack of water - yet massive building continues apace.
Hollow out a garden gnome for an impromptu rain barrel. Just tell them it’s a damaged garden gnome.
I recently replaced the faucet cartridge in my bath/shower with an exact replacement. It worked perfectly before except for a slow drip. Nothing else was changed.
Now the cold water comes through like a fire hose as it always did, but the hot water is now barely more than a dribble.
I guess they want me to save energy.
LOL - at least we are still allowed to collect rain that falls on our roofs and elsewhere on our property - I understand that is illegal in Oregon.
My city has a rain barrel discount - they’ll even deliver it. I paid $60 for mine, which I thought was expensive - saw same one at Home Depot for over $300. My brother bought 10 of them and fills up every one.
Paint them to look like garden gnomes, just in case. :)
*****Why again do we want to reduce water usage?*****
Cities sink, groundwater is depleted, and all that water is purified, treated, drinking water going down the drain and all of passing through infrastructure and going through treatment plants before it gets to you and after it leaves you.
Redo your repair checking for a pebble or debris and that you got the cartridge placed just right.

Huh? With normal settings the tank empties, 5 gallons is a 5 gallon flush and 2 gallons is a 2 gallon flush.
Yes, “Sticky” is a problem...
“””””20 years ago I bought a house that had low flush toilets. I just started dating a girl whose dad owned a plumbing company. He dug out an old 5 gallon flusher from the warehouse. Bless him.”””””
When the transition was first forced toilets were terrible, since I offered a minimum 1 year guarantee and free everything replacement of any toilet that I sold a customer, for a couple of years I was having a heck of a time finding acceptable models in various configurations and different styles, especially for the multimillion dollar homes, but some of the manufacturers did work out the kinks and figure out how to use the 1.6 gallons effectively, today almost toilets are OK to great, someone said even the notorious Glacier Bay trash toilets work now.
It goes with the curtains, however.
My brother found a solution to the sticky. Just put toilet cleaner and leave it for 24 hours. It cleans everything.
See post 31 about different toilets and their ability to clean the sides of the toilet bowl, different toilets also have different water surface area in the bowl after the flush.
Those nice, small metal water-saving shower heads that you can get at Walmart are high pressure. They put out steam well.
Of course, they are like the shower heads used on submarines, as I understand it, though.
