Sounds scary, hope it doesn’t get worse.
I cruised the Greek Islands decades ago. Santorini is probably the most beautiful, hope it stays that way.
Vulcan stoking his forge?
Hopefully the smaller quakes keep the big one from happening.
Doesn’t look like much of a beach there. I remember the water color from 50+ years ago.
One thing not much reported is that not only Santorini is at risk. As one You Tube poster pointed out
"I like how most news outlets think the only relevant greek island (of all 277 inhabited islands) is Santorini. The earthquake activity is right in the middle of the Cyclades Islands and the islands directly surrounding the activity are (clockwise from Santorini) Santorini, Ios, Irakliá, Schinousa, Keros, Amorgos, and Anafi — all islands that have many residents and much tourism. If were going to worry about them, lets worry about all of them.💙

It is altogether too easy to look at the pics of the structures on the bluffs above the sea and imagine whole hillsides sliding into the ocean.
There may be a risk of a tsunami going across the Med, too, some say. Big landslides could do that even if a quake doesn’t. :-(
Quick...move the Gazans there.
WOW
Santorini is one of the most BEAUTIFUL places on earth!!
In 2011 there was a seismic swarm off Greece that went on for months.

Just don’t stay in one off those places hanging down the caldera.
Word has it that a goodly number of them have been built without a permit.
=8-0
Comparisons with data from from the 2011/12 swarm might shed some light...
Here’s an English language version from Katherimini’s sister site...
I have noticed differences in the same articles between the two, so FYI.
BTW, keep your eyes peeled on Kilauea and Iceland. Both looking ready to spew...
There has been a bit of a “swarm” of small quakes on the San Andreas fault, too.

That 5.2 was part of a 4.7-5.2-4.6-4.7 sequence in 25 minutes.

(Title is rather click-baity.)
I studied there in college and it was beyond gorgeous. History practically in every square inch - it was beautiful and haunting.
“Vulcan stoking his forge?”
I read that before, but not recently. It does certainly look that way.
