They may love them, but they can only love them when the planes are operational and 2/3rds are not. Plus, the pilots do not care about the trillions of $$ needed to maintain them.

Ten years ago I spent dozens of hours supporting F-35 pilots, trainers and Air Force leadership. These guys knew the platform, flew it and were very enthusiastic. Sure it was new and bugs were worked through. I never saw theAFpilots or top officers with any disappointment in Lockheed Martin (who I did not work for.)

F-35 and F-22 are both about 50% ready rate. Ve 75 for none stealth With maintenance, the cost of of an F35 is around 1 and a half of another non steath fighter and still a lot cheaper than an f22. The hardware on board the f-35 is better than anything out there. When f35 can take out multiple other targets, the value is there
