Part of the problem is that Microsoft is gradually moving stuff out of the Control Panel into Win+I Settings. For example, in Control Panel there is Programs and Features -> "Turn Windows features on or off". On Windows 10, I used Control Panel to install the Microsoft OpenSSH Server. On Windows 11 I couldn't find it anywhere in Control Panel. It drove me nuts until I finally found it buried in Win+I -> System -> Optional Features -> "Add an optional feature".
There are also installed applications that don't show up anymore in Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Add/Remove Programs. For example, the NVIDIA Control Panel no longer shows up. This is because apps downloaded from the Microsoft Store don't appear. I found this out with NvCP, which can no longer be upgraded in any other way except from the Microsoft Store.
I checked and It seems it is installed by default on W/1 Pro. Meanwhile, far less are visibly shown in the Win+i Settings>System than are quickly accessed via Control Panel as menu under Open Shell:
As well as Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features>Turn Windows Features on or off:
However, if you go to the bottom of the W+i System>Optional features and hit More.. then it opens up to the old Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features>Turn Windows Features on or off.
[[But “God”? Nah,]]
Agreed- Better to be named super mode like you said-
Do you have dark mode ON all day? Ever use the tiny suspender Chromium extension?
How about calling this Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious mode?
Lol! I kant spell anything past 4 letters
No, I tried some Linux prog once, red shift I think it was, and it did help a bit I guess, but then bought the glasses, and it fixed my eye strain tearing, stinging etc. So I never put anything on agsin to dim the blue lights (I’ve since rei stalled many times several os’s, so never got around to using any kinds of dark mode or blue light suppressors. )
In Chrome -This is what turning on dark mode looks like. Though text size remains normal. Dark mode has nothing to do with blue light blocking. Many like to turn on dark mode at night. Some use it 24/7. All for eye comfort and eye strain.
ah thanks for the explain and example- I’ll see if linux has anything comparable-
I dunnio if this is similar?
What I showed you has nothing to do with Linux. This was how to enable Dark mode in the Chrome browser and a few others. You use Chrome browser? What browser you use?
firefox- i assumed that going to dark mode woudl mean browsers too? No?
You must have Chrome browser for Linux?
I have used this program for years. They finally came out with a Linux version. Yay! Now I will install Mint Linux on an older laptop.
https://justgetflux.com/linux.html -—— Certified (by me) as great for going lo blue light, with going more red.
I spose I could get it- but I try to avoid anything Googl.
Thank you for that link. Looking at it now.
Be there or be square.
Oh I’m square alright lol 😆
