Too many universities have decided that their highest goal is training the next generation of communists to attack our country.

Easier still. Take the federal government completely out of the school loan business.

Amen and amen. Reagan got talked into “reforming” AID and it only made it stronger.

Trump needs to abolish government funding for education like he did AID. There’s no reforming it. Burn it down and let markets rebuilt it right. “Build back better” /S

He talked about this during the campaign. He was going to change the way they were accredited so that current schools would lose their accreditation if they didn’t change. I’m sure this is still an issue on his plate but it might not be as high of a priority as the current ones he’s working on.

Where universities really cost us is not as much in cash outlays but in the way they abet regulatory racketeering.

Lose funding?

Hell, lose the land.

Most of the big universities - University of California for example - are Land Grant universities. They owe the ground they sit on to the Federal government.

They used to have to incorporate ROTC as a condition of holding the land. The beginning of the end of that started in ‘61 with the screaming children of Berkeley throwing that off, even when there wasn’t a nasty war to go to. Then it spread.

Now they are openly hostile to the Americans ourselves. They give preference to “first generation” applicants and anyone who isn’t White in general. A lawsuit on that was filed yet again just yesterday. They ignored the SCOTUS ruling on AA.

So take the dirt back. Turn it into barracks. If Nero Newsom and Burnout Bass want to keep turning out Bolshevik Cadres, let them build up new camps out in the sticks...like Indio.

Yes, remove govt. from the college loan grift and watch junk colleges and programs disappear.

We can chip away, but as long as the schools are flooded with unprepared and only marginally able students, it’ll continue to be a fraudulent business.

---- "Burn it down and let markets rebuilt it right."

One of the Milei aides in Argentina stated that -- paraphrase -- if the private sector can do something, the government should not be in that "arena" of the economy. Make a clear delineation between what government's responsibilities are and what the private sector's are.

To be sure, if all NGOs had to operate from SOLELY private donations and no government funds flowed to and through them, the opportunities for grift would be happily and severely slashed.

bingo bingo bingo...if I want a nursing degree or accounting degree, why should I be forced to take 10+ courses that pertain nothing to my degree of choice?

So we have prospective nurses and accountants who need to take courses in Chinese literature, race relations, etc. in order to receive their degree. It’s a collective racket that benefits nobody except the activist professors in liberal arts.

the onus is on the schools who accept such students knowing their standardized test scores (which should be required) are mediocre and not indicative of college-readiness.

That includes all 50 state university systems at this point.

The point of these proposals isn’t to punish universities but to improve quality and reduce costs.

Easier still. Take the federal government completely out of the school loan business.

The colleges themselves should provide and guarantee the loans. If their students can't find jobs to pay back the loans, that's on them.

Speaking of priorities, i havent heard much on election reform at all.....

Thats one that needs to get fixed ASAP.

We all know we should have 55 or 56 seats in the senate and another 5-10 house seats.

--- "The colleges themselves should provide and guarantee the loans. If their students can't find jobs to pay back the loans, that's on them."

A very fine proposal. Given the massive endowment of many elite universities, they can fund their own....

And given the states' involvement in state systems, they can fund theirs.

A clean separation between responsibilities. Harvard and the other ivy leagues and states like California and New York would be mightly irritated. It would be jolly good fun to watch!

The phrase -- loan forgiveness as trotted out by the likes of the Biden-Harris regime -- would disappear from the news headlines overnight.

Other than the service academies like West Point, the Federal government should have zero involvement in higher education. Except for schools for the children of military parents, the Federal government should not be involved with K-12 education.

End the mandate that all elective courses must be liberal woke classes. Usually the options are all bad.
