The nearest city is absolutely terrible. The locals will step off the curb right in front of a moving vehicle. Car speeding? icy roads? Whatever, it just doesnt matter because “Pedestrians have the right of way.” No amount of rights is going to mitigate the kind of traumatic brain injury that will follow.
I was just about to say that years ago we didnt have this problem. There wasnt anyone walking where they didnt belong when I was younger except around fairs or other public events and only during those times.
When I came back from overseas there had been something of a demographic change. Now there were people with dark clothes wandering down the center line on poorly lit busy roads. These people are also often the ones that have the poorest ability to judge the stopping distance of a car or maybe they are the ones most willing to get hit.
