“It’s really odd. Young person + gym membership = invincible (?)”
I started back in a gym last year after a multi year lay off due to a heart attack. It’s the only remotely social thing I do or have done in several years. EVERYBODY is on their phone. I don’t do that because I know I will completely lose track of time between sets, like I know they do.
Shortly after I retired I joined a gym. It was free, as my health insurance had a ‘Silver Sneakers’ benefit.
I didn’t last long. The few older folks (like me) took the time to wipe down the equipment after using it. The younger folks NEVER did that. Ugh. It drove me away.
I invested a few bucks in some home gym equipment instead.
How tragical. 😞
Prayers sent for the little boy and all who mourn him 🙏🏻✝️

Mine is relatively small, and locally owned. Most everybody is fairly well mannered but I do have a list of pet peeves. I go mid morning when they’re less busy and it’s mostly old people. Over 40 years of working out I’ve found I can work out better and more consistently if I have to make the effort to drive to the gym. Don’t know why.
Yes, so sad!
