Supposedly had a foot injury.
FROM HAVING HIS FOOT IN HIS MOUTH TOO MUCH???
Media is interesting.
Sports media is more interesting.
The NBA recently struck the jackpot.
They sold their media rights for three times what they sold them the last time they come up.
They found TWO suckers who broke the rules of business by overpaying for a declining market.
Amazon is not really a media company, but an online retailer who dabbles in inferior technology and mediocre media content.
They can probably afford to take a bath on the NBA rights.
NBC is a horse of a different color.
They overpaid for the NBA and they are little more than an old linear broadcast TV company trying to find a way to survive, just like a company who made buggy whips when the horse and carriage was being replaced by motor driven vehicles.
I was an NBA fan, but its politics and its overpaid guaranteed contract coddled stars have got me to the point that I NEVER bothered to watch one of those Christmas Day games nor can I remember watching much of any NBA game this season other than what I saw channel surfing or on highlight shows.
Although I don’t have a lot of love for Netflix because of its political leanings, the company at least understands a sound business model.
From what I have read their foray into sports has been measured and successful.
The Tyson-Paul fight may have been a bust on some levels, but not one they couldn’t survive.
Although I’m no WWE fan, my President is and he is a WWE Hall of Famer.
Trump was a businessman who could always “read” the room.
As a politician he has been able to “read” the folk who live outside the urban “s**tholes”.
Netflix has invested in the WWE which tells me it may have decided their are a lot of eyeballs to be had outside of the coastal elites.
Although Netflix is a subscription service and NBC is a broadcast network struggling to get into streaming with Peacock, I think Netflix made the smart move leaving the NBA to the clown show at NBC and grabbing a hold of the WWE.
At least when “wrestlers” say stupid stuff they are following a script, when LeBron says stupid stuff, it’s because he just plain stupid.
They can probably afford to take a bath on the NBA rights.
I used to be a Prime subscriber but I ended my membership around five years ago.
They kept raising the rates and I didn't want to pay for mediocre media content. Amazon paid $462 million to produce The Rings of Power.
Who has Netflix, yeah I know, most lifetime football fans have and watch Netflix. Compared to CBS, Fox and even NBC, the number would be very low. I subscribe to Paramount plus, get Fox over the air, and subscribe to Amazon and Peacock. No Disney, no Netflix. They support Obama and the Evil Empire at a high level.
If the Super Bowl was on ABC, Netflix or Disney, I would skip it, that includes ESPN channels.
Prime is on my streaming list, my Wife shops, sometimes I watch if it is a good matchup. My interest in sports is waning though. Too many channels, too much $$$$$$ being changed hands. That includes NCAA Div 1. They have sold their souls for $$, not for Education, the School and fun.
I am 71, and can watch most NFL games by antenna, but what I really miss is NCAA football. I never paid for ESPN, it is like pay per view, when my viewing of commercials used to be the total cost. Now the price has been increased, as the quality of the people playing has gone done equally.
Most play for the money, Dick Butkus, Tarkenton and Walter Payton wanted to be paid, but there was no grasping greed for more MORE.
Why shouldn’t someone grasp for more pay?
What’s this now got to do with our golf 🏌️?
Tee Vee is so all over.....
There’s the truth right there. Thank you.
Gee, Bron, didn’t know it was such a big holiday in Communist China.
“It’s our day.” “It’s our day.” What a whiney little bitch bucket.
Their millions are on the backs of fans who can no longer attend games. They are greedy, out of control, and it starts at the top from ownership down to the players. These guys make more than doctors, and scientists. Hell, teachers are also greedy, they make too much for what they supply.
The players are killing the sport, because all involved are greedy. Greed is a great sin.
Greed drives capilitism. Whether you think their skills are worth what’s being paid is irrevilant and usually based on jealousy.
Greed breeds monopolies, and destroys the free market. Nobody can compete with the NFL. A controlled market, if you tried to start a rival league, you will be buried.
