My wife is in that same mode. She is from the Midwest and has this great female voice with zero accent.
At least once a day she will spend minutes with some caller wanting to sell something.
She gives them a local phone # for calls. She gives them a number for the a local mental health or bar.
I had a friend who used to hand the phone to his 4 year old when he got calls from some yutz. A 4 year old can prattle on for quite a while.
Been getting such pop ups for a month.
VERY ANNOYING
Back when it came out I remember some of my co-workers describing it as “training wheels for the internet”. I also remember when 14400 was a dang fine connection.
We are old.

Went through a couple of systems with 50Baud current loops and teletypes. One of the teletypes could go to 75Baud - That was amazing to watch....
