Maybe “Jungle Jim”—maybe on YouTube? (Done a few searches before giving up).
I’d recognize the specific “lingo” as described previously—impressed into my young memory. (I was about the same age).
The main character was an “Anglo” boy. (A “WASP”, if you will).
His sidekick was a knowledgeable Indian boy about the same age: Transport was mostly by elephant.
Maybe that show was followed by “Space Cadet”. All in black and white, of course.

Weissmuller’s film son, “Skipper”, also brings back no recollections.
Probably half hour shows on Saturdays, and maybe only a few seasons?
Johnny also invented and performed the famous yell, often requested and performed by Carol Burnett.
oh you mean Maya, but it was much later. It had Jay North the aged out TV Dennis the Menace as its star.
