Don’t forget tampons in the little boys bathrooms in our public schools.
It is what is know as luxury beliefs. Wealthy people can embrace stupid ideas because they can afford the consequences (or so they think). People in Hawthorne, New York do not have drug addicts defecating on their lawns. Yet.
The Weimar Republic was that of not just a defeated nation, but that of a nation literally beaten be the Treaty of Versailles where Germany was severely punished. Mass unemployment and communists rivaling for power.
Then along comes a great orator and political mastermind. His speeches awed the populace. His economic policies got prosperity and pride back into Germany.
(LOL - I started to write something that shows your parallel is wrong. It’s starting to look like you could be somewhat right!!)
Simple power structure. Think of medieval court where your upper class folks go to cull favor with the king.
Such folks recognize that by keeping the king wealthy and being on good terms with him, they themselves will be enriched. So you keep your serfs busy and unable to advance themselves
The US Constitution gives power to peasants. The courtiers intuitively fight this by enriching the “king” which in our case is he who enlarges the government which means supporting policies that bring in more money to the government.
Socialist programs do this very thing. Though the marketing of these programs tout benefits to the poor, it does not do so, it enriches the government by giving it more employees and infrastructure to work the problem. Most money for any such program goes to the government, not the people at large.
So you don’t see too much support for repubs because Repubs market smaller government and those supporting them are not feeling a need to be enriched by the king.

Paul writes about deception in 2 Thes 2:11-12: And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie. That they all might be damned who believed not the truth...
When it baffles me to no end why people can’t see the truth, I remember this.
Those are folks so well indoctrinated by the Left dominated elites that independent thinking is nearly impossible. In any group of them you’ll hear group think on every issue.
While greed has its place in adverse human nature, I have come to view Envy as the motivating factor in the communist fabric.
The Rich & Elite are envious that the Middle Class has, essentially, all that they have: nice homes, cars, entertainment, etc.
The Lower classes are envious of the shelf above them: Middle Class work providing nice homes, cars, entertainment, etc.
to those folk they see every day.
Both of these 'top and bottom' classes would like to see the elimination of these SOB Middle Class families.
This happens if you feel like your money was undeserved and you need to buy off those who don't have as much. Using taxpayer dollars, of course.
“Did you get your money by fraud? By pandering to men’s vices or men’s stupidity? By catering to fools, in the hope of getting more than your ability deserves? By lowering your standards? By doing work you despise for purchasers you scorn? If so, then your money will not give you a moment’s or a penny’s worth of joy. Then all the things you buy will become, not a tribute to you, but a reproach; not an achievement, but a reminder of shame. Then you’ll scream that money is evil. Evil, because it would not pinch-hit for your self-respect? Evil, because it would not let you enjoy your depravity? Is this the root of your hatred of money?” -- Atlas Shrugged, Ayn Rand
God help us.
You know how to tell if the democrats are going to cheat? They phone it in. Question is will the hatred of Commiela be that of the Hillary level? Hillary tried to phone it in, but the level of hatred of her was greater than the amount of votes that could be produced.
Democrats have positioned themselves as the educated elite versus the dumb as rocks uneducated Trump supporters. So these affluent people want their friends to see that they are elite and educated.
On my morning walk I pass a house with a “Trust Women” sign...I laugh. Right . Trust the women - with obvious exceptions - who aren’t smart enough or responsible enough to control their own reproduction, resulting in approx. 6,000 abortions a day. Yeah, those are the smart ones who should decide the future of the country.
I worked my whole career around college educated professionals. It always amazed me how such smart people could be so liberal and so dumb when it comes to politics.
I work in health care, and there are many brilliant, hard-working physicians who support any Democrat. It has made me understand the paradox exists, but I still have a hard time grasping why it exists, so I think often on the subject.
One of the things I do believe is that for many Leftists, there has to be a part of their brain that is stuck in a perpetual adolescence. This is manifested by their bizarre and inexplicable behavior as adults which I believe many of them successfully repress, but many do not.
I have had a lot of experience at protests (far more than the average person) being the point of the conservative citizenry, coming head to head with the point of the Leftist citizenry, so I have been able to observe first-hand the difference in behavior between “us” and “them” when their world view is challenged.
It is one thing to read what they write, which is ostensibly (though not reliably) what they think. We all have occasion to do that every day when we watch the media, read the news, and frequent places like Free Republic where people post articles and opinion pieces by Leftists.
It is quite another thing to see what they actually do in their physical behavior and demeanor in person, in an environment where their political opinions are not accepted as an “indisputable fact” and challenged openly.
Just yesterday, I participated in a Trump Standout in my town, which is one of the most Leftist towns, in this most Leftist of states. At one time, there were possibly 15 of us, including four guys of high school age.
It was great, and I was not the only one who found it very uplifting. We had excellent support, lots of grins, waves, thumbs up, and horn honks. More than one of us wondered aloud how it is that this state could be reliably expected to elect any and all Leftist candidates, some of the most egregiously Leftist in our nation’s history.
But we also got plenty of opportunity to see people who disagreed with us so virulently that the simple act of someone publicly opposing their Leftist points of view was enough to trigger them to the behavior you would only expect to see from an ill-mannered, self-centered adolescent.
We had many adults pass us by in vehicles who you could see grimacing, shaking their heads, and sometimes, displaying for us a prominent thumbs down. Those were not deemed by us to be at all offensive, though we did discuss why so many of them seemed so unhappy.
I felt (and others agreed) that the unhappiness you saw on their faces when their sacred Sacred Cows were attacked was likely reflective of the unhappiness and dissatisfaction they felt in other aspects of their lives.
That said, we all deemed the sour faces, shaking of the head, and the thumbs-down gestures as within the bounds of “civil discourse” and therefore, not offensive.
However, it was the other aspects we saw them prominently display in reaction to our presence which were astonishing (and disturbing) to see from full grown adults.
The Finger, fully extended from the window (or surreptitiously delivered from within the “private” confines of their vehicle with the windows rolled up) was the most common form of “uncivil discourse”. At the other stand out I mention below that occurred nearby (in the wealthiest of towns in our state, by the way) we were at an intersection that had a very long light. One guy came up the light as it turned red and he rolled down his window and extended his entire arm to deliver The Finger to us. It was a very long light, I estimate 2-3 minutes, and the entire time he was stopped there, he sat there mutely with his arm and finger-laden hand fully extended from the window in our direction.
That was not all that disturbing to us.
What we found even more unsettling was the loud and uncontrolled profanity, almost always involving the “F” word. But it wasn’t just the use of the word that was disturbing, it was the loud, un-hinged vehemence in which it was delivered that was unsettling. At another Trump stand out I went to a few miles away, we had a middle aged man shout it at us from his car with his elderly mother sitting in the passenger seat, staring stonily ahead. Yesterday, we had one man, with his child in the car, do the same thing.
Not infrequently, we would have all of them at once, head shaking, faces distorted with rage, reddened and punctuated by wide, bulging eyes, spittle flying from the lips as they bellowed out various epithets, all without fail involving the “F” word, and inevitably, The Finger, all of this delivered in that time slice in which they passed through our limited sphere of influence, as if they had to make sure they got it all in.
Sometimes we would jeer back at them, and my favorite response was “Does your mother know what you do with that mouth?”
But I can tell you unequivocally, and without any reservation, that in the dozens of protests and standouts I have been at, even those where we are in close contact with the “other” side (Leftists) I do not see this immature, childish, and uncivil behavior ever-EVER-initiated or even escalated by Conservatives, even in response to their direct provocation.
That tells me not only that I am on the right side of this, but that our beliefs are grounded in what we can intellectually and ideologically defend. We are built on a foundation of solid truth that we can confidently stand on, even if many of us as individuals do not feel up to the task of clearly elucidating that foundation to others as well as it might be done.
The same cannot be said for Leftists, even the highly educated and otherwise intelligent ones. They build their entire edifice of Leftism on a faulty foundation, and I think that deep down inside, they know it.
They know it, and it causes a degree of cognitive dissonance that in the stronger ones that can be isolated and walled off. In the weaker ones, it is expressed in this behavior we saw yesterday, and sometimes...as in the BLM riots...worse behavior.
Exactly true !
That is why they are so lacking in both policy,
and clarifying what changes could be made.
It deserves repetition : " It's not what they're for but (sic) rather what they're against."
Their views aren't the result of rational thought but rather derive from their childish feelings..."
Good post — thanks. And you can (almost always) judge a book by its cover. Remember all the mugshots of Antifa and BLM members, with their various piercings, pastel dyed hair and wild eyes? Not a single one of them was the sort you could pass on the street without taking a second look. It seems they’re all psychologically damaged in some way, and compelled to act out.
Very much enjoyed your long and descriptive writing on your experiences. I’m sorry you’ve had to endure such rudeness.
I think what I mostly understand from your story is the widespread use of intimidation by the left. You are rare in that you can stay strong and calm when intimidated. Most, I among them, can’t. So I stay away from the situations you brave. Deeply impressed. Thank you.
Please do more of these long essays. They’re thought provoking.
