And that facility that is used 10 times a year is a complete waste of prime waterfront real estate. As is also Burke Lakefront Airport. As a lifelong Clevelander, I agree with your statement. I’d much rather drive to Brookpark than downtown any day. Plus the new facility would host many more events than the current stadium.

I once attended a January playoff game in the old stadium where it was 10 degrees at kickoff. That was 1990

Also... crime will now reach areas not reporting as much as urban numbers

One of the worst thing to happen to Denver was the light rail passenger trains were ran into the suburbs. Every piece of scum and criminal finds their way out of the city now.

I was at “Red Right 88”. I think that was 1981 or 1980.

Brookpark has already got Hopkins Airport. It’s not exactly corn fields. It’s pretty urban in its own right. Whatever crime is in Brookpark already isn’t likely to vary much in either direction imo.

About a year and a half before I was born but that was when the Browns played in the playoffs and knew how to get there

But look at Atlanta.... in fifty years the Falcons have gone from Fulton County Stadium to the (now razed) Georgia Dome to Mercedes Benz Stadium. It's the nature of the business. Not even 50 years. They played in Atlanta–Fulton County Stadium in 1991.

Not like you can go to the beach there.
I mean we do have beaches, marinas, fishing, recreational boating, and commercial industries here on Lake Erie. Not sure if you’ve been here, but the lake already attracts some nice stuff. Granted, it isn’t the bikinis, sun, and glitter of Miami Beach. It’ll never be Miami Beach.
But that area can be a boardwalk, or a recreational area with restaurants, hotels, bars, a casino, maybe a “strip” or rock-n-roll themed businesses to go along with the Rock Hall. The Great Lakes Science Center is right there so you can work that in. The aquarium isn’t far from there as well.
Not sure if you’ve been down there, but that stadium is just a blight. A waste of land that has the potential to be so much more. Lake Erie gets way less credit than it deserves. When I took my twenty-something nephews there for the first time, they were awestruck by the size.
The Brookpark complex will be multi-purpose with ample and contained parking. The complex will be partially in-ground which will give it a low profile vertically.
We’ve had the NFL draft here, the GOP convention, among other things. Time to go out and attract a Super Bowl.

Amen. Although at the time we were coming off 70s Browns that were in quite a drought themselves. That 1980-81 year lit up the town. I was 10 and I remember opening an envelope under the Christmas tree: “Surprise! You’re going to the playoffs!” It said. Best present ever! Thanks Santa (dad)!
Lets see if I can remember the lyrics to “12 days of a Cleveland Browns Christmas”. I promise, I won’t google. It plastered the airwaves here for a month. We even roller skated to it.

It's too big to host concerts. If you look at their
mockup video, namely between 1:35-1:50 you can see their plan for hosting the final four and concerts.

I guess Taylor Swift can do a concert there. Otherwise, it's way too big.
Unless they can get it down to 15k or so. It'll be easier for you to sell out.

I do think they’re going to work out methods to cordon off significant portions. True that the days of arena rock are over. The indoor concept affords the opportunity to change floors, move stuff around, block areas off, and deliver better acoustics. I also think there’s going to be a significant outdoor area that can also serve as a venue. I know it’s just a hype video, but the existing monstrosity on the lakefront has 0 chance of delivering any of that.

Brookpark has already got Hopkins Airport. It’s not exactly corn fields. It’s pretty urban in its own right. And it's got NASA-Lewis. It's a built-up area. Still, if I lived anywhere near the proposed new stadium, I'd move. Imagine the traffic.

I have a friend who already has. lol. She said the same thing and hated the idea. She got out quick.

I am all for big sports teams going where they want.
I am not for any taxpayer treats to aid these multi-billion dollar teams to do it.
What they really do is they look for what state and or city will bribe them the most (paid by the taxpayers) to stay or leave. They are all wealthy enough and with enough revenue to borrow 100% of any stadium financing needs.

Everyone else got help from taxpayers.

” Still, if I lived anywhere near the proposed new stadium, I’d move”
Whites have already been fleeing Brook Park for decades. Population has declined 30% since 1980.
The area is in decline in more ways than just its population count.
It’s understandable for sports teams to move from existing ghettos into wanna-be ghettos (which will happen whether the residents “wanna” or not), so I get that.
This reminds me of when a shiny new sports dome was built for the Cleveland NBA and WHA teams back in the 1970s. It was supposed to be glorious, but was too far off the beaten path and attendance tanked. Morons are much more dedicated to their mindless Sportsball today than they were 50 years ago, so attendance isn’t as likely to suffer today like it did then — but these are still the Browns, and they’re pretty good at driving fans away.
