Never bothered to watch LLV. Again, why self-flagellate when in search of entertainment?

That was shatteringly depressing. Elizabeth Shue deserved the best actress Oscar that year.

I never heard of this. It will be forgotten. The best thing out there right now is the Max series of The Penguin. It is really awesome.

I have a sneaking suspicion that you and I might like different kinds of movies. Which is fine. My own viewing tastes have changed as I've gotten older wiser.

That said, my particular purpose with the movie ping list is to identify movies that are new (or at least newish), well done, and arguably "conservative" in themes and development. They don't need to be conservative message movies or propaganda films, but they do need to at least be fair to conservative perspectives. My underlying idea is that reality is conservative, so movies that are set in a morally coherent universe and that don't cheat will at least give conservative viewers and critics something to work with. I am willing to go genre slumming to find them.

Anyhow, the movies that I find and submit for the good of the order obviously reflect my own viewing tastes, and since I actually watch very few movies, old or new, my perspective is limited. But I am certainly not a genre snob. I don't care for flying spandex and comic book movies, but I hold no prejudice against those who do.

I've not seen any Penguin movies or series, but if you want to make that case that the HBO Penguin offering is conservative, I am all ears. If you can sell me on that, I might take your recommendation and watch it. I don't care whether a movie is big or small, a studio tentpole or a small indie film with a very limited release, widely viewed or a niche film with a tiny audience, etc. I want to know if it is conservative-friendly. Nor do I care about the politics of the filmmakers. Liberals can and sometimes do make surprisingly conservative films if they want to tell honest stories and don't cheat.

So far the Penguin series is more a mobster series than Batman. Batman has not appeared and I hope he doesn’t ever. It very well written and acted. Colin Farrell does an Emmy worthy job of acting despite being under so much make up you cannot recognize him. I’m generally not into comic book movies but this really isn’t like that. The online response to it has been very positive so far.
