Yep
I tried for years ..off and on.. to talk my mom into moving about 10 mile from where she lived. Which was on the edge of a bad area.
Thankfully, nothing serious ever happened to her..other than whack jobs stole stuff out of a then 70 widows yard.

“ I would never use a shotgun for home defense. Why destroy your own property in the process of eliminating an intruder? Minimize damage to walls and furnishings by using a handgun.”

You’re gonna have to call ServPro to cleanup all of the blood and brain matter anyway, what’s a few sheets of drywall in the bigger scheme of things?

“Stay away from laser sights. They are next to impossible to acquire a target with, unless you happen to be in the dark. Get a good red dot“

I respectfully disagree. I wouldn’t want a laser sight as my only sight, but they’re invaluable when defending yourself in tight spaces. Somethings you might not be able to get your eyes lined up with the sights, but could get a visual on the laser dot on the perps chest. Plus for the same reason you wouldn’t automatically be behind the gun while firing. The laser tells you where you are aiming even if you’re not able to look down the sights. That’s a plus in my book.

Apparently what you want to do with a laser sight is point and shoot being fairly confident the projectile will strike where the laser is on. I see your point.

A better idea is using a Judge or Governor with bird shot or the special self defense load which has five 000 buck projectiles in it. I have practiced a lot with this type weapon and it is a true point and shoot that will hit a target with ease in the draw from the hip cowboy style.

If one prefers to actually aim the weapon in close quarters, open iron sights work great! You can’t miss.

Lasers are difficult if not impossible to see in bright light. With a Judge there’s no time lost trying to see what the laser is on.

I’ve had two lasers, the last one a very expensive green laser. Both were impossible to difficult to see in the outdoors daylight and both would not stay zeroed.

Your opinion is respected, stay safe!

Yes, I would think the logical thing to do would be to move. If one thinks they absolutely need a firearm to protect themselves, their family, and home, then they really ought to think about why they are in such a place.
