I used to be a very avid fan of the Mountain West and especially USAFA.
Please let me know when the rest of the NCAA football watching country gives them any degree of respect. If that ever happens, I’ll listen.
My BIL is a Miami fan. He didn’t go there, but he grew up in the area, watching them and adoring them. My mama used to give him hell. Sent him all sorts of Gator gear. He loved her anyway. It was a friendly rivalry. He’ll hold it over our heads tomorrow. He’ll let us lick our wounds tonight.
Armstrong in Savannah.
It was called Armstrong State University at the point of the absorption by GSU.
I just checked, and you are correct.
I follow Boise State, and enjoy the games and the high level of competition.
My second fave team in the Mountain West? USAFA. (Air Force Vet, but not an academy grad.)
It's worth noting, is it not, that the PAC-8 (then PAC-10 then PAC-12) is now (if I understand correctly) the PAC-2.
MW still stands.
So a school with an engineering and computer bent, right? No wonder the academic status was lowered after being absorbed by GA Southern.
Are they still trying to merge with the PAC-2?
I don’t mean that disrespectfully.
Yeh, they had a great sports program too, specially Baseball.
I have friends who teach at the Armstrong campus now. The staff still isn’t happy and it’s been several years now.
When this was first announced, I was involved with the Rotary group in Liberty Co (where Armstrong had a branch campus). The Presidents of both colleges had a Q&A session for the areas and our group had our meeting as part of the proceedings. I managed to get a word with the Armstrong President and asked her directly how they were going to keep Georgia Southern from dragging down Armstrong academically. I think she didn’t like the question.
Honestly, I have no idea at this point. Mountain west has stayed together through a lot, though.
I miss the old days of conferences that weren’t as bloated as they are now.
Boise State shut down a local coffee shop because the owner was a supporter of law enforcement. I hope they lose every game and the team has to leave. Scumbags all.
