Likely heat stroke. It’s hotter than hell in the south and extremely humid. Need frequent hydration breaks; at least every 30 minutes, and get hosed down at least every 30-45 minutes.

When I went through Airborne training for three weeks in the middle of the Summer at Fort Benning, the Black Hats required everyone to comply.

Could be heat exhaustion or the dreaded
“undiagnosed heart condition”.
I recall reading about an 18 year old
who had died “suddenly” despite appearing
to be in good health—he had been in
Little league World Series at age 12
but had a heart condition only diagnosed
after death.

Actor John Ritter dropped dead at age 50,
had seemed healthy but “undiagnosed heart
condition”.

Ask the football players who also wrestled which practice was worse.

That would be me, and the answer is wrestling workouts made football practice seem like a therapeutic trot through a sunny park. I'm 60 and still have my wrestling muscles.

...and a freshman playing varsity. Really uncommon at least in the high school I attended.

Heard a pod cast by the Kelsey brothers. Jason said wrestling practice is the most strenuous training he ever had.

Yeah, it was pretty brutal. As hard as it was, I promised myself that I would do everything the coaches told me to do, and never quit. It really paid off in building a good muscle base. I really miss it.

Had a local high school team where over half the varsity were either freshmen or sophomores. Didn’t win a game last year and got beat bad in almost all the games. I talked to one of the kids over this summer and told him if they hang in there, they will be giving the beatings when they are seniors.
