Also, regarding food, Mc Donald's isn't Mc Donald's anymore because of the sanctions, but still the same recipes, plus extra stuff like fried shrimp. I can get a Big Mac combo for 399 rubles (about $4.50 USD). We go to nice restaurants here and can get a full dinner for around the same price. The food here is great, vegetables taste better than in the US. Food is fresher. Bread only lasts a few days because lack of preservatives. I can go on and on.
I would say the most difficult thing for me right now is not being able to preach in the open because I don't have my temporary residence permit yet. As a missionary I have to be careful until I get one. I'm helping to build a church, and the pastor can't list me on anything either (until I get the TRP). I did preach last Sunday in his absence but had to do it more as a testimony.
It's a great place to live, especially living on my retirement.

Macdonalds just opened up in my first visit to Moscow ( 1990s)….Gorbachev, transition from Communism to Capitalism. The Wild West….i watched the entire transition, which included a great resurgence in Christianity. Please do keep posting, boots on the ground witnessing is what the West needs to hear.
“This was also the case during Soviet days that Russian units were basically told from the general down and were discouraged (putting it mildly) from thinking on their own. Having a compliant population who just follows orders has its negative sides.”
I’ve read the Soviet definition of initiative was “finding the best way to carry out an order”.
The 1st image posted is the result of going out and evangelizing for about 3 hours the day before yesterday. We had some S. Korean missionaries in town, and they hosted a gathering with our church.
The next image is of all the youngsters when we asked about who loves Jesus. They raised their hand and were invited onstage for prayer and encouragement to grow in their knowledge and faith.
It was a fantastic night!
I would rather live under Putin than Biden or Kamala/Obama, et, al. Putin loves his country. The bastards we’re dealing with are evil and hate us and our country.
Nothing stopping you.
I won’t leave the country I love.
