I can remember stories on another site of people who bought motor oil that turned out to be used oil that had been poured back into the jugs and returned. All I can say is WOW.

BA HA HA!!
Aw. c’mon!!

I read a story about a lady who almost late for her GYN appt.
She had just put a load of towels in the wash, but her teenage daughters towels were still there, so she dried herself off with those.

When the GYN Doc sat down, and began to examine her
he stopped and said “All this for ME?”
He told her there were all kinds of “glitter” down there.

Her daughters eye make up apparently was on the towel she had used!

Cabelas used to have this policy. Their bargain den would have hunting boots worn once, optics, binoculars and etc. They no longer are as liberal, and hence their bargain den is not as big a place to shop as it once was.

Was that Montgomery Ward’s by chance? I remember there as a kid and the line to return stuff was longer than the checkout lines. It was easy to return there because just about everything had their own brand. Heck I even machinist micrometers with their name on it in my shop. It is a shame that people optimistic about human nature get destroyed by human nature.

That sounds like a joke, but I knew someone who worked at the health department, and one of the patients came up pregnant after being counseled to use a diaphragm with jelly. When asked if she had used the jelly, she stated that she had bought Welches, since it was the best. True story.
Never underestimate the stupidity of the general population. (especially these days)

I think its to idealistic to try to always be/do right to all customers. The fact is, scammers are not customers. They are scammers. So “doing right” to them doesn’t apply.

WOW!
I’m really surprised by that!
That doesn’t sound fair to me.

I don’t shop there, because I find them overpriced.
The other reason is some tourists come here
and treat the locals like dirt.
The the FIRST place they go is LL Beans, so they
can look just like us...riiight.
They just want to show off to their snotty friends,

Case in point about SOME (not all) tourist are nasty and lazy to boot:
One couple parked in a handicap spot, that is right in front of the pharmacy doors.
A spot I use because I NEED it!

So, they park their expensive car right there, and proceeded to head down town to shop.
I rolled my car window down, they could plainly see I am on oxygen!
I said “Really? You’re going to go shopping and leave your car there?”
“Could you please move it for me?”

“Certainly NOT!” was the response.
My response “Very well. I will call the Freeport Police, and you can discuss it with THEM.”

They were all kinds of PI**** off, but move it they did!
*evil grin.”

I think the “grape jelly” problem is one most gyno doctors have dealt with. Years ago, my gyno’s office had a big poster in the exam rooms advertising jelly and even gave away free samples of the correct jelly and told their patients when they needed more to go to the drug store and only buy that same type product. They had to be clear because so many patients thought “jelly” was jelly.

I stopped buying their button down shirts about 30 years ago. No idea if the quality has improved, but I’ve moved on.

Well, I’ll be darned. The name of the store was “Lechmere’s”, and it turns out near the end, they were purchased by Montgomery Ward’s. I did not know that.

These people I knew I guess could be classified as scammers after the deed, but I was shocked they would do it. It was a discouraging thing.

I don’t regard it as idealistic. It was a business decision to draw customers, and it worked well for them for more than 80 years. But the country changed, IMO.

There was a time when people would not do that, and certainly, would not brag about it.

I didn’t think it was fair either. I showed her the shirt and how short it was. No dice.

Great response to a couple of self-important leftists.
