Funny how the Constitution requires a “republican” form of government for all states.

These are nice phrases and words. Now define the differences and similarities between them to the average person.

That phrase appears nowhere in the Constitution. It does, however, appear in Federalist #39.

I do admit I cringe when I hear Reagan use that phrase in his speeches. Considering what the Congress was composed of mostly during those years, I can understand why he didn’t bother to have his speechwriters omit the phrase.

Of course these days, I can’t hear the phrase without thinking of Woodrow Wilson and how he declared “socialism and democracy” to be “one and the same”.

Republic/representative Republic, elected representatives by the people represent for the people;

Constitutional Republic, it is the law of the land to BE a representative Republic
