All weather Organisations spew weather fear porn for clicks and agenda. The current “heat dome” and hurricane Beryl non stop hysterics is nauseating.

And it was probably just as hot in 1977 too. Summer of Son of Sam. Being inside the city probably makes it feel worse. I guess it cycles with the whole El Nino / La Nina weather patterns.

It’s 114 where I am and I’m in LA County. But was only 102 yesterday and supposedly 102 again tomorrow. Today is just one of those rarities. Death valley is 122 - but they said it would crack 130. As it is now 2:30 pm I doubt it will get much hotter there.

Got married in Vegas in 1972 and the temp when we got our marriage license was 114...I did go to the pool when I could tear my husband away from sparring matches with Quarry and ??? at Cesar’s Palace - some big fight was coming up. Ali came in the room and raised a ruckus - couldn’t enter quietly LOL and Sugar Ray Robinson was there...good company - got his autograph...it’s safe in an old scrapbook.

Went to Hoover Dam on our way out of town the next day - back to OC and COOL ocean air....much welcomed!!

“In a recent paper published in Nature, a team of scientists showed the unprecedented increase in the global stratospheric water mass by 13% (relative to climatological levels) and a five-fold increase of stratospheric aerosol load – the highest in the last three decades.”

You know that vapor traps a lot of heat. Should see spikes for another 5 -7 years it has been claimed.

B.S.

Thermometers mounted on rooftops or in asphalt parking lots skew temperature readings upward.

Lived in California’s central valley for 40 years. Every summer it gets hot, very hot. However this is normally in the upper 90s. But a couple of times a year the temperature will reach into the triple digits and hang around for a week or two. We call it summer.

Will it be as hot in So Cal as in around 1999? it was when the lines from power plants in the north were overheating. I mentioned to friends in CA that WE in the Oklahoma area had so much extra power we were opening the outlets and letting it run out on the ground.

It was extremely hot all over the PNW.

"In Portland, Oregon, temperatures soared as high as 116°F (46.7°C)"

And in southeastern WA where I am it reached 121°

Here along the Columbia and Snake Rivers we have 109° to 112° forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday depending on forecasting agency and exact location.

Next week will be at the very high end of the normal range; that even more extreme excursion in 2021 was really out there.

After living here for 70 years I would say these summer extremes are getting hotter, but I don’t attribute it to human activity.

I’m reluctant to admit that I grew up in Stockton. My rabbit died in his hutch on a day it hit 115

It’s rather amusing in my part of the Inland Empire So. Kal. that the 10 day forecast just 2 days ago was for Armageddon levels of heat. Multiple 100 degree days in a row for this weekend and high 90’s for other days. No 100’s yet and low 90’s on the updated reports for the weekend and beyond. It’s kind of like gross incompetence at best or agenda driven weather reports to drive the news. Imagine that? And does anyone care that Death Valley might hit 120?, well duhh!, why would you be out there anyway?

103 yesterday in Stephens County (Texas y’all) where I’m hiding out on a ranch property.

Our annual 4th of July rain came in today and at 1400 CST it was 58 degrees.

I put on a winter coat on while bush hogging on the tractor.

In a few days will be back to normal of 106-109.

Wow, that's amazing.

I was off by three degrees. In NYC it hit 103° F in 1966, on July 3rd, to be exact.

I remember because it was amazingly hot where I lived at the time, in Upstate NY. But the situation in NYC was all over the news because the TV networks all broadcast the nightly news from studios in Manhattan.

Very dry (and hot) today. Tomorrow more of the same.

Makes old-timers uneasy.

Wish we’d get some rain. We’ve had a couple of showers so far this summer but none of the real rains that wash out our road.
