As always in the real world, it is supply vs demand.
Just shut down all fossil fuel sources, especially the ConEd power plant in NYC that is vital to allowing power to come in from other places.
Wait a couple of weeks. Demand will be waaaaaay down, like population of NYC.
Problem solved.
It won’t be lack of heat in winter or uncomfortable without AC. It will be lack of food. Everything in freezers will be rotted in <week. Nothing will be trucked in since they, the trucks, won’t get past the gangs at the NYC border.
The only food left will be the arsholes who voted for these NYork state policies.
Like I said, problem solved.
Bottom line: New York’s problem, let them figure it out. If it blows up in their faces, everyone else may learn something.
Back in the ealry 2000’s Toshiba offered to install a Toshiba 4S nucelar powered generator for the town of Galena, Alaska. Once all was said and done they could have had 5 or 6 cent per kw power for 30 years.
But wait! It’s Noookuular. Eek! Can’t have that.
Galena residents are paying well in excess of 50 cents per kwh.
