It’s been said that deer swimming from Plum Island (off of Long Island) to the town of Lyme Connecticut brought the first ticks ashore.
“Can saltwater remove leftists also?”
Most of them are salty to start with but maybe they could exceed saturation point and OD somehow
“”It is an entertainment story from TV land””
You’re entertained by this?
“You’re entertained by this?”
Does my living in your head rent-free entertain you?
It’s still kind of dumb
Small doses of ivermectin and lavender oil mixed with dawn soap.
“It’s still kind of dumb”
What caused you to come onto this thread?
Deer swim.... Duh.
I wondered if the story was a dumb as the title.
I had a strange thing happen to me about 15 years ago that involved a deer.
I was doing some consulting work for a pulp and paper plant in a remote area but near a town of say 5,000 people. I was there for about a week but before going, I had joked with the guys at the plant that if I do go there, somebody needed to loan me a decent bike as I was doing some training for a long distance race later in the summer. As it turned out, I got to the plant and shortly after our initial meeting, one of the guys said… “I understand you are looking for a bike to keep your training up while you are here” and he opened up the back of his truck and said “will this work for you for the week?” it was a gorgeous bike… just about exactly what I was looking for.
So…. Every morning, I’d be gone by 5 am doing a 2 hour ride before work. On about the second day, I was heading out of town on a decent highway when I came upon a deer in the ditch…. It did the usual skittish thing but then it proceeded to follow me. After say a mile or so, it was about even with me say 50 feet away in the ditch. As I sped up it sped up, as I slowed down it slowed down. A few times it got ahead of me and if couldn’t keep up, it slowed down for me. Once I stopped for about a minute and it stopped. When I took off again, so did it. I biked with this deer alongside me for about 45 minutes and then thought.. “as fascinating as this is and as much as I’d like to see how long this could last, I got to get to work” so I slowed down and made the loop to the other side of the road. The deer did the same and doggone it if it didn’t ride shotgun with me all the way back to the edge of town on the other side of the road… and then it took off.
I took the same route a few days after that but never did see it again.
Yep, if you take ‘em far enough out first.
