Putin has restrained the real hard-core military in Russia. The Putin haters don’t give a crap about that.
Putin tried to spare lives - he wanted neighbors he could trade with and an allied nation as a buffer between Russia and the aspirations of the UN/WEF/NATO/WHO 'world government'. He tried selectively hammering on infrastructure to drive Zelensky to the negotiating table. But NATO won't allow negotiation because their goal is regime change in Russia in their quest to rule the world. So Putin persisted in the softest tactics he could use to get to the negotiating table and when it became clear NATO would not permit a peace agreement, he went harder on infrastructure and military assets.
Meanwhile, Ukraine supporters on FR insisted that Putin's initial restraint showed he was crippled, weak, and literally dying, and that Russia's armies were raping and torturing at will, targeting apartment complexes with missiles to kill as many citizens as possible. The Ukraine's FR advocates warn 'this is just the beginning' and that Putin aspires to conquer all nations. It's absurd to argue he's weak, dying, hated and is a threat to the world because he's fighting to eliminate NATO's threat to his nation.
