The only problem with that is the Ruskies have killed about 600,000 Ukes and the number keeps growing.
Not sure your point.
Yes there we many losses in Vietnam to mostly in unarmored or lightly armored helicopters.
Most lost flying over the enemy and not behind the lines, if lines is a good term for Vietnam.
As Vietnam was the first real test of helicopters in combat there was a learning curve, and out of that came the armored attack helicopters
Curious what the lose ratio was between the two types. Attack helicopters didn’t land in hot zones to pick up dead and wounded, and deliver troops and supplies.
Somalia showed how dangerous that was
Besides the initial invasion don’t recall where Russian helicopters are flying over Ukrainian held territory and most lost are armored attack helicopters.
How well Russia can replace these loses and more imprthe crews is an interring question
Do they? And what is the operational status of them over two years into the war
Seems there has been a large drop in helicopter activity esp recently
Could be tactics change, could be something else
What do you base those numbers on? The Russian mod which claims something like 4 times the number of Ukrainian aircraft shot down the they ever had? Tanks is even more fanciful and who can forget the ever favorite all drones we shot down but some fell on the target
I have no idea how many Ukranians have been killled or wounded, but 600k, seriously?
137 helicopters are confirmed destroyed by picture.

of those, 47 Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopters are confirmed destroyed. This is their most effective attack helicopter and the most advanced; roughly comparable the the US AH-64 Apache. (Most of the others are for transport or of limited use in contested air spaces).
Over half of the total Ka-52 produced are now either destroyed on damaged (repairs may be impossible, due to the western parts needed and are now embargoed).
During Nam, the US had thousands of helicopters. Russia has hundreds, so every loss is a critical one.
Try again Oleg...that’s Russian estimates of Ukraine forces killed (propaganda).
Actual estimates: US estimates are 35,000 Ukraine dead and 350,000 Russian dead (450,000 UK estimate).
Is it in the style book that the invasion must always be referred to as “full scale”?
A good friend’s dad died there when the rotor came off the helicopter he was riding in. No enemy action.
Next you are going tell me that it’s the Ukes that taking town after town while the Ruskies are running out of ammo and are about to lose. Is that correct?
No. I don’t give a squat who’s taking what. I don’t support either side, and I certainly don’t want my tax dollars going there. My only point is that as long as the Russians face a quagmire that they can’t escape...so much the better. Russia is an enemy.
Go here and pick your poison…I tend not to believe the Russian estimates.
