The only lunch box that I got,

After being ridiculed at school, I became a neo-luddite, and brown bagged it.

A fair guess is once ‘taxpayers’ were paying for ‘free’ lunches the metal lunchboxes just simply went extinct.

mine was also red plaid
I carry an insulated blue lunch box now. For a couple of years, I have kept my eyes open for an insulated plaid lunch box but have yet to come across one. I have always loved plaid.
