I didn’t mean to imply murder, although that rumor persists. But she was on the sex, drugs and alcohol downward spiral. Hollywood ruins a lot of lives. I respect the decent people in the film industry who keep their noses clean. There are probably more of them than we realize because the scandals get so much attention. But the culture of the industry is sick.
“I would love to see a beautiful young actress that is more than just used for her body. Yes, she can be truly beautiful but more modestly clothed and in scenes that are alluring without being so revealing.”
There are many examples. Some recent good ones: watch Saiorse Ronan in Brooklyn and See How They Run; watch Thomasin McKenzie in Leave No Trace; watch Haley Lu Richardson in Columbus, After Yang and Montana Story. There are many more; these are just fairly recent films that caught my eye, all with young actresses in their early to mid-20’s.
The genre obviously makes a huge difference. Some actresses are obviously very selective about the roles they take. And very often, their careers are limited by doing so, because so many roles for the 20-somethings are romantic dramas and romcoms, often with producers and directors with “sex sells” on their minds.
The game changes when they get older and move into the more adult roles where they aren’t pressed to be young hotties. But that depends on staying alive in the industry until then.
I personally think it's time for Hollywood to retire the gratuitous sex/nude scenes. And not because I'm a prude, but because they're distracting and ruin the flow/pace of the story. And 99.9% of them are entirely unnecessary.
They're a throwback to the era before we became completely saturated in unlimited free porn. Back in the 80s, an 'R'-rated film might be the only place you could see boobs short of men's magazines or the back room of the video store.
Today, if you want to see people having sex or look at hot naked women, it's a mouse click away. I don't need to see boobs on HBO when I'm trying to enjoy the story they're telling.
I’d put Grace Kelly up there.
I agree.
ahhh...i see. So here weve all been wrong all this time. Film historians, film directors....generations of fans, here we had it all wrong, WHO KNEW???!!...smh..strange.
its 2024...go mention Marilyn Monroe to them, and they’ll know exactly who she was. Say Grace Kelly, and they’ll say WHO? Its like with Al Capone, everybody knows what he represented, a gangster. Monroe automatically represents beauty and sex appeal. Theres not too many that reach that status.
If I were her father I would be ashamed.
