We are not voting-with-our-feet our way out of this...
Why does NYC have RCV?
Why does CA have something similar, all mail-in, and a ban on hand-counting ballots...?
If blue states would vote for this, then why in Hades does Deep State have to steal their elections?!
The “tax” is on net worth. Not on earnings. They look at how much you’re worth, and take .4% of that.
It’s not a tax. It’s confiscation of earned assets which have already been taxed.
Can such an exit tax survive a Federal court challenge? Regulation of interstate commerce is assigned to the Federal government in the U.S. Constitution. Additionally, there would be discriminatory issues if the New Jersey state authorities treat a resident of, say, Tennessee, differently than a resident of New Jersey on the sale of real property in New Jersey.
I think the SCOTUS will squash the “exit tax”.
A California exit tax was a part of jokes and memes just a few short years ago.
That’s analogous to the Berlin Wall — built to keep people IN.
Yeah, that will make everyone want to stay !

Before he dicks you!
Don’t worry, the franchise tax board knows how to find you. Ask me how I know.

Yep. Exactly true.
No I haven’t
Interesting question. The feds offer real estate tax breaks for for home owners that live in their homes for a period of time. Do the Sates have to follow the federal guid lines? no they don’t. Most agree to...
This will get overturned big time.
Additionally, 15 USC § 78c(a)(17) states:
interstate commerceI don't think that the "exit tax" will stand up in court. Indefensible.
(17) The term “interstate commerce” means trade, commerce, transportation, or communication among the several States, or between any foreign country and any State, or between any State and any place or ship outside thereof. The term also includes intrastate use of (A) any facility of a national securities exchange or of a telephone or other interstate means of communication, or (B) any other interstate instrumentality.
