I am not taking sides on this one. However, given that President Biden threatened devastating consequences if anything happened to Navalny, this would be an excellent way to make the President appear utterly impotent if he does not respond. Or a test of just how impotent he may be.
So, making the President look like a toothless, drooling bundle of senility could be why Putin would do it.

Navalny's lawyers and friends (and family) are closely connected to US State, FBI and CIA, entirely in Biden/Deep Swamp/Rat power.
Theese are the people who stood most to gain from Navalny's death in a Russian Prison.
Same Biden/Deep Swamp/Rats that gained from Epstein's death in their American prison.
