You are speaking of the ELCA -- Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Indeed, they are heretical, and are in an association with other apostate churches such as the Episcopal Church USA and the United Methodist Church.
However, the LCMS -- Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod -- organized in 1847, is still holding to Biblical truth and the Book of Concord established by Martin Luther. LCMS is the second-largest Lutheran denomination, but there are also a number of smaller Lutheran bodies that continue to uphold the Bible and the Book of Concord; many of these bodies split off from the ELCA because of its political radicalism.
