>>Windows 10 users worldwide report problems installing Microsoft’s January Patch Tuesday updates, getting 0x80070643 errors
2,147,944,003 errors is quite a few. Microsoft fails bigtime as usual.
“I loved Win 7 until it got so slow.”
My little Windows 7 travel Acer laptop was SO SLOW, and I couldn’t get the Windows Welcome screen. Unusable. The company we contract with for support wasn’t able to help.
I figured I had nothing to lose so started to fiddle with it. I found myself in a screen with 5 tabs across the top (maybe Bios?). Don’t know how I got there.
There was a 2013 date in there, so I changed that, and the time. And I hit a key (F9, I think) because it had the word “default” in it.
The system shut down and when it came back — bam! — Windows. Now it’s super fast and — knock wood — stable.

I got W7 on three systems, and they all run great. That said, my laptop is dual booted with W7 and Linux, my “video” PC is dual booted the same, and my main desktop computer is tri-booted with W7, W10 and Linux. They run all great, and no matter which O/S I use I get the job done.
That is an incredible website. I’m gonna bookmark it!
This year I’m going to order a Windows 7 desktop from them.
Expected, but been there (though it is used on my old PC). Not worth the time it would take to try to customize it (if possible) the way I like Windows. But thank God for such tools - may they be used for good in His eyes - and for competition.
I presume you replaced the old mechanical HDD with a SSD, and cloned the OS to that. Cheapest (under $30 for 480GB) way to vastly increase speed.
Everything you said is Greek (maybe geek? 😉) to me. I don’t even know what HDD and SSD mean.
I don’t worry too much about this laptop so only use it when I travel, which is hardly ever any more.
Thanks.

Our first trans ission intercepted by distant alien life?
“Yesterday, today, no differences, let’s go, planet needs assistance.”
Both are much benefited with free enhancements, thank God.
Have you searched how to stop windows 10 updates?
Reputable How-To-Geek among others, provides .Reg file you can download and run to do so. You can have https://www.virustotal.com scan it if you want.
Yet you should be able to choose when updates will install and use System Restore if you need to go back.
The clever penguin is always last into the water.
See post 33. Most Windows users do not even know about the level of safe and free enhancements available, which they should find improve Windows despite MS upgrades which overall are negative as regards efficient functionality.
Like Open Shell, download Open Shell (click on Releases>Latest on middle right side) to replace the mobile device W/11 start menu, and there is Explorer Patcher that restores the Windows 11 taskbar to be exactly like Windows 10, while Windows 7+ Taskbar Tweaker (I am using the beta ver.) provides more customization.
Then there are the over 200 tweaks available in Ultimate Windows Tweaker 4 and now there is Ultimate Windows Tweaker 5 for Windows 11 from the Windows club.
Add to this the many Winaero features of the Winaero Tweaker
Add to this is Right-Click Extender (add items to many right click menus),
I know about 0 when my first PC was given to me, in answer to prayer, but I had time to search the Internet, thank God for help!
Select (highlight) HDD above, then right click and go and click on Search HDD and you will find results.
I build my own PCs. The last one I built has the last Intel motherboard that you can program Windows 7 onto. Anything after Gen 5/6 will do only Windows 10, and I wanted a computer that I could still put Windows 7 on. That’s how much I despise Windows 10 and 11. However, I tri-booted that computer since I was still working for the government at the time and any remote software had to be installed on Windows 10. So I put Windows 7, 10 and Linux on it, and that’s where she stands now. However, I like that website and I’m going to look into possibly ordering one from them as well.
Windows 10 Ameliorated is my favorite Windblows since XP. It has no bloatware, no Cortana (as in it doesn’t exist, not that it’s disabled), all spyware removed and all updates are disabled. As is the M$ authenticity check.
If you want updates (but why would you?), run WSUS Offline (https://download.wsusoffline.net, freeware).
And it’s FAST. I’m running it on an old (and CHEAP) small form factor Dell with 16 GB of RAM and an SSD and it boots from stone cold to ready to type in less than 40 seconds.

Maybe beekeeping would be more in your line.
