No, not at all. The urban areas are where people live, so they have more votes because more people live there. It’s simple math.
People point out how much land area is red in this country, but few people live in much of those red areas.
In Virginia, vast stretches of the state are red, but Highland county which votes 75% republican generates a total of 800 votes. Fairfax County with a population of 1.1 million generates 1 out of every 8 votes in the state with over 400,000 votes. Northern Virginia as a whole generates one out of three votes in the entire state and it votes 70 to 80 percent blue. There are not enough votes in Highland County and many other red ones in Virginia to overcome the voters of Northern Virginia...the math is just not there.
The district I live in is D +50.

My wife took me from North Idaho to the Spokane airport this morning. You should see the nonstop graffiti on Interstate 90. It looks like Los Angeles now. The rise of gang graffiti coincides with the erasure of the southern border and the hordes streaming across unimpeded.
The in-your-face social breakdown of graffiti always precedes all the other social breakdowns.
So far, Idaho has not been heavily infected, but I see the crap moving eastward from Spokane. It won’t be long.

Between uncontrolled 3rd world invasion, internal migration, and collapsing birth rates, soon there will be no red states anymore.
Republicans have turned 1 state reliably red, Iowa. Meanwhile Democrats have flipped Virginia, Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, and maybe Georgia, with Texas and North Carolina teetering.

Having grown up in Colorado, years ago I formed a simple theory, and my theory has held up well so far.
If your state has good snow skiing, you are doomed to californication.
I’m sorry to say that so far my theory has held up well in the social laboratory. Idaho and Utah are holdouts, but they’re crumbling... even Wyoming managed to produce a Liz Cheney, whose base of support is Jackson Hole.

I would be fine with a one-county, one-vote setup in a state’s Senate, which was basically the case in some states before Reynolds v. Sims, and an electoral college-style vote for governor, using weighted votes county-by-county, similar to the state-by-state basis for the Presidential E.C.
Utah is attracting a lot of technology startups. This influx of workers is changing the demographics of the state.
